Huh? Deshaun watson has a 40 million dollar cap hit every year until he is a FA.... Thats not team friendly at all.

As for CMC, he has a 14- 17mil dollar cap hit for every season following this one... How is that more palatable for a team to take on?  CMC doesnt get cheap until his final year at 14 million and that is in 2026.

Also, you are incorrect on the Salary cap for 2022, the NFL is currently borrowing 10 million (20mm total) from the cap in both 2022 and 2023 to avoid have the cap sub 180 this year. Based off of last year's revenue the cap was only slated to be 162million, but they know how much that would have handicapped the league and players, they elected to borrow money from future caps. They took a loan against themselves. So even though the cap is estimated to grow in 2022 based on pre-covid revenue, the highest it could be at is 210 million.

The point is that it isn’t a reason to not make a deal. If the Texans say.....”we want CMC or you can’t have Watson.” Your response isn’t to hang up the phone. Your response is to do what it takes to get a 25yo 5000 yard passer who may be the second best QB in the league.

Maybe. With some young elite defenders, good offensive weapons, and a focus on the OL I definitely do not rule out competing for a SB within that timeframe if we add an MVP caliber QB.

If we have CMC and Watson both in the backfield I’m not even sure the OL matters that much. What we have now would get the job done. Add a MLB and get Reddick (if they want Burns) and imo we’re one of the tile 2-3 teams in the league by the end of the year.

That's not what i'm asking.  Of course we'd all trade a ham sandwich for Watson if that's what it took, but the choice is between getting Watson while losing AT LEAST one of the young defensive trio, and honestly maybe even two, or keeping all three and trying to win a SB before they get paid and split anyways, but having to do it with Two Gloves or an unknown as our signal caller.

imagine whining about getting a top three quarterback because it might prevent you from getting some bum ass guard to block for a lunch pail 7-9er

People are overrating 1st round picks.  Yes they are important but they aren't the only way to build a good team.

If the Panthers can't build a playoff team around an elite QB, then why do people think they would be able to without one just because they have 1st round picks?  A good FO ALWAYS finds a way.

You're right, but you can't blame the fanbase bc we have been conditioned to almost think of anything after the 1st round as throwaway over the past 20ish years for the most part... b/c they have been...

2015 should be the answer to that issue though...  Our MVP QB that year took this team to the Super Bowl with Ted Ginn, Philly Brown, Jerrico Cotchery, and rookie Devin Funchess...

Nothing is more important than an elite QB

That was a great year indeed.  But Cam did not do it all by himself.  It took the team five years to build that roster without giving up 3 years worth of firsts and seconds plus 3 of the top defensive starters before the year started.  This is nothing like that by any starch of the imagination.
