Without evidence it is still “he said/she said”.  Anything short of a photo/video, or admission on his part will fall into this category.

Looks bad but we really need this to play out in court.

The DAs office just has said they haven't been given material.  That doesn't tell us much though about if there is an active investigation though.

Agree on court.  But it doesn't look good.

Yeah...it doesn't work that way.

Courts don't say "well if there's no video, you can't prove it", not even civil ones.

While I think a suspension is all but guaranteed based on how the NFL operates, I think it is far too early to say how likely it is Watson is traded or picked up by another team.  I really don't know.  

People can point at Ben Roethlisberger and say hey, he stuck around and people were cool with it.  But even that was a long time ago when you think about it.  Times have changed and optics have changed.  It is going to be very difficult for an NFL team to vouch for Watson if all of this turns out to be true.  

What Watson needs to happen at the very least is to get this settled before it gets to courts and hope that the DA of Houston chooses not to press charges after reviewing whatever Buzbee shows them.  Innocent or guilty, if this goes to a full-blown court proceedings then that is really going to hurt his potential NFL future.

That is the thing... who knows how long this will take to be settled in court. An even if it does, and there is no fault, the NFL can still suspend. They have done it in the past.

The NFL's standard of "proof" is basically believability.

If they think it could have happened, they can suspend you for it.

The real issue is that the lawyer went on social media fishing for evidence. The general rule is that you do not accuse someone of a crime then go get evidence.

Usually, the police have an instance of a crime and gather evidence to support a charge that would lead to a conviction. In this case, it is the opposite, hence that this is the reason that it is being pursued as a civil matter.

It seems that the lawyer is submitting information to the police in an effort to legitimize the civil complaints. I suspect that if Deshaun is not brought in for questioning and charged within the next week to ten days, then the evidence is weak and would not meet the criteria for a conviction in court.

Burden of proof is also different in civil vs criminal court.  It does help Watson a little if the police decline to pursue this, but it doesn't mean that he would be "cleared" in civil court

Or “cleared” by the NFL - which makes him untouchable at the moment

Oh really dude? In criminal court you need evidence of an actual crime or witnesses to a crime. As I said before, only in civil court would a lack of evidence lead to an unfavorable judgment.

      Without the team having an identity kinda hard to predict what they value.  They either are really trying to build a balanced team, or preparing for another swing at qb if Bryce doesn’t pan out. Seems like we value the o line but the $ spent there has been underwhelming besides Lewis, you could say it’s because of injuries but still hasn’t been worth the investment. as already stated, the whole handling of Bryce young as a whole has been ass backwards, we spent the years we’re supposed to take advantage of having a qb with a lower cap hit, building the team up to be adequate. now It appears, key word appears, the saints have done it correctly, which is painful to even think about. Regardless, I hope the front office has paid attention to qb contracts recently, such as Tua, Kyler, Daniel jones(pre colts) and don’t settle for subpar qb play at franchise qb rates

      This is the flaw in your logic.  Cutting 3 of our best players will somehow move us from whatever we are to "compete". Even the most Young super fans are not predicting a ceiling above top 10-12, and that will not nearly cut it.  Someone will need to break the log jam of QBs getting nothing or North of 50. Our qb is at best a middle ground, lets hope it will be us that also manage to pay the worth at about 100 over 3 years.  And before you jump me, yes that is only of he improves.
