We should--if one is there and their should be one---Cosmi will fall, Leatherwood, etc.  I just have no faith in this team to invest in the OL.  I think we are having a great free agency--but I question the OL moves---if they like them, they may think with Scott, Ewing, and Daley, LT is covered.  Man I hope not.

IDK I usually think like you too, but everything I have heard is our oline coaches are traveling like crazy and I believe we take multiple, but unless someone falls that we just cant pass up, I believe LT is almost a certainty in the second. A really good one should be there to develop.

Agreed.  Let's hope that Cam Ewing is not their answer.

I don't like the OL signings but I would be patient.  It may have been odd being the first FA signings, but in stepping back, we're backfilling the line so that we can take BPA on the line in the draft.  Not forcing ourselves to go guard, center or tackle.  Though, left tackle is obviously preferred.

If we stumble on a future center, Elflein takes more of a guard role, we could stumble on a new starting guard (or) two, then Elflein is the backup center, Erving becomes depth that can play LG or RG.

Trent Scott performed pretty well so maybe he has an inside track for LT.  I just find it interesting we're looking at flexibility over a starter investment at RG or LG.

I think we're looking at something like this right now:

LT: Scott/Little/Daley

LG: Daley/Elflein/Erving

Center: Paradis/Elflein/Tecklenberg

RG: Erving/Elflein/Horton

RT: Moton/Kaskey

It ain't pretty by any means but it's a lot of new names, so, it's hard to judge.

We are still in high need of an OT.  I would look at the draft for at least one (with LT potential) and a G/C.  It's actually quite a nice draft in the tackle class with many more than usual having the 6'4 300+, +34" arms measurables you look for.

But going back to being pessimistic: If you combine the deals for Elflein & Erving, we could've given a 15 mil guaranteed 3 yr/~25 mil type contract to a much better guard UFA.  Problem is we needed depth as much as a known commodity starter.  Maybe we still sign a guy.  Just odd we did Elflein & Erving first for how bad they've played and how injured they've been.  The rest of the FA has been money.

Me neither, but this is a very good OL draft.  I am thinking they will draft some rookies and these are the vets that they will compete with.  Note these veteran signings (2) play all 5 positions between them.  They will probably start in the short term...and I agree with every word you write.

Not the strategy I would have gone with.  I found it odd that the 2 players we agree to sign on Monday--seemingly the players we targeted early--are the most suspect signing.

I love the Fox, Reddick, and Perryman signings.  I am really fond of the Moore signing--probably the best value.

If our main competition for Fuller is the bronco's, how much cap do they spend on their secondary after this deal?

Well I’m assuming they’ll have more cap space available now than they had before this deal.

We can create a good chunk by doing the same thing with Moton.

The Panthers have a ton of available cap space to work from if they really want to

Another potential option...

I'd have to see his contract, but it's hard to imagine he's making as much as Kyle Fuller was.

Wonder what they'd ask for in a trade.  if we aren't pooling assets to acquire a big name QB anymore, could be a viable target.

Heck, two or three different trades have gone down this year with just a swap of picks.

Not sure we could get something like that in this case. Don't really know that much about him or why he's seeking a trade.

    • I want the conversations at season's end to be more about what else we need to build onto the foundation to be playoff contenders and less about the fultility of drafting yet another QB and hiring yet another coach because as long as Tepper is the owner, it doesn't matter what this team does.
