49ers HC Kyle Shanahan says they’ve been in contact with QB Justin Fields’ agent and plan to get another pro day with him before April’s draft.

Shanahan and GM John Lynch will attend Alabama QB Mac Jones’ pro day on Tuesday, while assistant GM Adam Peters watches Fields’ workout the same day in Columbus, Ohio, per @peter.king8.

The 49ers, however, still have plans to schedule a private workout with Fields.

They aren't taking Fields I can almost guarantee it.

They either traded up for Mac Jones which I have no fuging idea why they would unless secretly the Panthers loved him and were about to trade up for him

OR more likely imo

They traded up for Lance. It's a poorly kept secret the Falcons loved Lance.

Yea I’m thinking they want Lance as well.

Just got off the phone with my brother-in-law, a chiropractor in Columbus, OSU Alumnus, who knows a lot of folks inside the Ohio State program.  He said that the OSU QB has evolved--never really been known for QBs until recently, and he gave a reason for every recent QB bust--he says that Fields is different--was used less like an athlete who can throw and more like a thrower who is an athlete.  He reads, but tends to lose patience the more he is in the pocket.  He said that Fields is the best QB Ohio State has had in his recent memory--if you are thinking NFL potential.  He still has his doubts and sees what might scare off some NFL fans, but he thinks the right system will produce a star.

    • After watching Dan for 3 yrs now, I think I understand his plan. It’s a simple plan that should work for the long run.     I saw some of this last yr. Dan wants a vet and a young player at each position. I really think we go OT if one they like there. Moton is aging, Icky will not be back until 27, if ever. We need to get ahead of the tackle problem
    • You are just stressing too much about these particular positions. You want to upgrade from Bryce and I understand that but you aren’t going to really get that without getting into a bidding war for a QB2 potential QB1 like Willis. You could possibly trade for Mills or the backup for Chicago but they are still gambles and their teams will won’t decent picks.  Again the Eagles thought KP was a capable enough backup to trade for him once their backup was hurt and won a Super Bowl with him as QB2. The point is most teams aren’t rolling with some stud QB2/3 that is going to push even a bottom tier starter. They are better off the building their roster in other areas. The Rams are rolling with Bennett right now as QB2 for example.  The goal is winning absolutely. We overachieved last year even with stumbling into the playoffs. Another year and this staff needs to take the next step in building a team. Will Grier has little to no impact on that….
    • Three straight first round WRs is straight up Matt Millen poo. Considering the draft capital we have tied up on Bryce after that trade we would basically have spent damn near all of our draft capital in recent years on QB and WR just to put one of the most anemic passing offenses in the league on the field. Clown show poo.
