I don’t want us to draft him at 39. I’m just saying I think another team will overdraft him ahead of our 3rd pick. He looked decent in the Senior Bowl, started off rusty but got in rhythm and made some nice throws with 2 TDs and 0 INTs in a game where the line wasn’t blocking well.

He did look the best, but his problems he’s always had came shining through. We’ll see where he ends up. It might even depend on any teams with later picks missing out and reaching. I think he’ll slip past the 2nd because I think teams may wait till after the draft when I think some now backups will be available that may have higher floors. Mond had his moments at the SB but he looked really really bad at times as well and I wouldn’t expect that much rust when all you are doing is prepping and you’ve got an entire week to go against vanilla Ds.

Honestly, I was also really disappointed in the OL play on Rhule’s side as well. We seemed to have a good bunch of prospects that we were looking forward to watching and it was really meh or horrific like Deonte Brown.

Taking in Mond in the 3rd is a reach to me. Is he going to start and be better than Teddy? If we can't get Fields or Lance at 8, why gamble with our 2nd or 3rd round picks. Keep Teddy, or put PJ or Grier in, and give them more tools. Keep building.

Who is wanting to take Mond and start him this year?

and as a Trevor Stan....I can admit in the two games we watched of Clemson /Ohio St, Fields was the best player on the field.

I still have Trevor 1.  But Fields is still 1b.  Ohio St having COVID is simply that.  Fields is a monster.

I hope to hell Fields falls to QB5!

Our best scenario is Fields or Lance at 8 and using those high 2nd/3rd to add at least one quality OL and BPA. If somehow we can get a QB we really like without throwing 3 firsts out to get them, then that’s best case. If that doesn’t happen then honestly, I would “tank” for lack of a better word and try to add as much young talent as possible and not worry about the record hoping we’re in position for another rookie QB or a cleared Watson. Dump Teddy and clear as much future cap as possible.

I don’t think Mond makes it to the 3rd unfortunately...

That is what I thought--the second round will feature a few teams that probably need a qb or will soon, but if he survives that mine field and falls to us in round 3, OK.  A team like Tampa Bay, for example, would be a good landing spot for him.  Learn behind Brady for a season or two and develop fundamentals.
