I mean the GM addressed that today.  Darnold doesn’t take a QB out of play in the draft.  Why would he.

it just gives them an option besides Teddy if things turn south and there is no QB they want....because they aren’t trading up (which is the smart call).

It has been no secret that the Panthers have been desperate for a new QB. The FO has been doing damage control for weeks now because of that. The GM did more of that today. They pulled this trade off because they don't like the QBs that might be available when they pick.

Why the hell we won't to make things easier on a 5th underachieving QB? That would make sense if we already investing in darnold long term but it would be foolish to pass up a potential franchise qb just to make him feel comfortable.

They have Darnold for two years and might just think he can be the franchise guy. That would be why they want to make things easier for him.

Holy crap. We are officially worse than the Jets. Spin that how you need to, but it holds true. We are a bottom dwellers and Tepper is a bottom 5 owner. He took a mediocre team and turned it it into a bottom 5 team. We just took the Jets failure as a better option because they get to pick the 2nd best QB in the draft and our 'experts' want Teddy 2.0 for 2021, all hope no reason.

Fire them all!

Out of pained curiosity,  what would you have done to address the QB position?

Huffed on paint and seen a better option?

In all reality, not doing something dumb is better than doing something ridiculously desperate. This is worse than Teddy because we learned nothing from that failure while solving nothing at a higher cost then just a bad Teddy contract.

Even you would agree Darnold is better than Bridgewater. And we were significantly better than the Jets last year. You are now just spewing pure hyperbole

Literally nothing is better. What do you not get about that? This is Teddy 2.0 territory a year after learning nothing.

Go into draft, see what pick 8 brings. Then trade for garbage at a high price in desperation. We couldn't even make it to the draft before panicking. Honestly, not being sarcastic, guys in the second round with little chance of success had more to offer than Darnope because they all have not proved how bad they are in the NFL already.

We are today, no less in need of a QB then before we traded for a long shot QB to be years of tape has ever shown him to be. Hoping Darnope will work out is the NFL equivalent of huffing paint cans in a paper bag.

No, just a different flavor of crap. Not better at all at this point. They are looking to have a better QB in a few weeks. I am spouting what I see. We are bad and not being run well, like the Jets. What is the difference? Both bad owners not adding positives. Neither know how to win. Neither are winning. What hurts worse is JR did better and he was a POS.

You are spouting. But that’s pretty much it

Yeah it is 2 more years, i thought he was going into his 5th year. But still i think him being a franchise guy is a long shot.

LOL. Teddy to Darnope, we have no idea what talent is at this point. Just face it, we have little hope on the offensive side at this point. We are literally jumping on longshot chances before we have to. As a longtime Panther's fan why can't you see this?

    • Not in same league. Caldwell just hit a 10.00 on the RAS. 2nd out of 3830 from 1987 onward.  https://x.com/MathBomb/status/2027885023387349047 Yeah I mean Louis had a sub 9.00 RAS. Still very very good, no doubt. Louis is small, no 2 ways about it. He is likely a sub package lb in nickel packages or specialized WLB. Be fine ST gunner to start for sure. 6 foot flat and 220lb is pushing it for a starting LB. At 10 to 20lbs less than the other LBs he'd better be closer to the top in most timed drills. He's gonna be challenged when some of the wrs in the class can matchup bigger stronger faster, much less TE in the run game.  Yeah instinct matter and he has them, but that size is a massive red flag compared to many of the other LBS in this class.    Rodriguez is the LB that really climbed this week from a pure grit guy to great flash with athleticism people wrote off cause he was a QB at first at UVA. 18.4mph in the backpedal. Production the last 2 years were great. I'd be thrilled with him as the future mike.   Hill likely moved out of 51 and into the top 45 picks ( Ravens at 45 I can't imagine don't bite if he makes it there). Honestly Hill imo is a 1st rounder and I'd be ok with him as he fits the MLB we have missed the last few years. People would crow it's a reach but he's top 30 all-time I'm RAS for a LB at 9.9+ . Plus he was big time in big games when he was healthy. And that br a big check: meds.
    • Miller, Melo, Coby, Moose, and Bridges all on the floor at the same time must be a nightmare for defenses lol. Switch one out for Kon and still a nightmare. Coby really does bring a true 6th man value and looks like he could start if Melo was out after only a few games of getting his feet wet.
    • Well I guess he should stop playing football. This was his defining moment and chance to prove he was generational and he failed. What a waste of football life..
