So then, what are we netting for Teddy and where’s he headed to?

I’m going to go with a 3rd & 6th to maybe DEN, NYJ or SF (the latter after Garrapolo goes elsewhere & to backup their new rookie. That makes the $ stomach-able for them)

Predictions in here.

I don’t think he goes anywhere this year. I think we pit him and Darnold head to head in camp.

I think there’s zero chance he stays on this team. Last resort is J1 cut and we eat the dead cap this year, save~8 mil and then come 2022 it ain’t no thang but a chicken wing.

That really depends on the Panthers CAP situation post draft.

If there's someone they want, then Teddy could be cut after June 1st. If not they might hold onto him through camp to look at offers.

The writing is probably on the wall though before the start of the season.

Yeah it’s 15 mil dead cap instead of 20 so it net saves us more cap in 2021. It had almost no impact next year and then he’s off the books. It’s not some ridiculous contract some make it out to be.

Sure. 34M for one subpar season isn’t bad at all. I’m sure that wouldn’t have helped in Free Agency at all. What would you consider “ridiculous”?

The Panthers would have to GIVE up a pick just to get a team to pay his salary. No team is paying him 18M to be a backup. At least not ANOTHER team.

    • Scheme and fit matter definitely, but if you are an NFL QB (especially a talented one) there will be flashes and some signs. I think the ones that get their careers broken are in inadequate offenses (bad weapons, bad OL, no running game etc…) and a constant turnover of staff can do it. Basically what the Bears did with Fields and what we have done with Bryce so far.
    • I mean when Rhule was on the hot seat and finally got fired, we got pumped and Wilks truly brought some culture back to the team for a brief window. Reich came in and when he got canned there was no hope or excitement, we actually got worse and we are still kinda there until proven otherwise. Some are basically trying to sell this as BY's actual rookie year as well which doesn't exactly draw up much enthusiasm and tempers expectations whether that was their intention or not.
    • Yes, but Bryce Young is what amplifies that concern for me for a super green HC and OC.   it’s all and marriages by Tepper IMO.  Canales and the new OC probably would have a better time getting their O running with a vet QB that is a natural fit.   again, I’m not arguing Canales and Morgan should be catering to Bryce at this point.  Just pointing out how pointless drafting Bryce looks at this stage.  And I don’t disagree you either can play or can’t and the O is irrelevant at this level.   I mean fit matters at this level.  Everyone is too talented.  Fit makes or breaks careers.
