BREAKING: A.Rodgers wants out of Green Bay

For sake of speculation I will say we have little to no chance at Rodgers.  Having said that for us to get into this trade we would most likely have to give up players and a bunch of first round picks to be even considered, if Rodgers would even want to come here.  There is always a possibility that we could work out some kinda of three-way trade involving use and SF for the number 3 pick which would allow them to flip the hoard of picks we give up for the 3rd pick to acquire Rodgers.  Barring that I do not expect us to be in this particular deal.

Rodgers is under contract.   They drafted a first round QB last year.

They most certainly can demand a poo load from any team that Rodgers wants to run to.     They already prepared last draft to move on from him.   They don't have to just deal him because Rodgers wants out.  They can easily tell Rodgers and other teams to kick rocks and have time to play that game.

He's 37. Nothing left to prove in the game - he could just walk away.

They have another QB on the roster who hasn't played a single snap in a year...

I think we have one advantage, well us, the falcons and the saints. We are in the division with Brady, that alone could attract a marquee QB. Who knows, but we could swing for the fence. Let's see those brass balls Tepper has been going on about.

If he does, it will be to the AFC, that's for damn sure.

My sleeper dark horse here.

New England.  They just re signed Cam for another year.  But nothing would make Bill happier after seeing Brady and Gronk just win it all,  than him bringing in Aaron

I'm sure they are inquiring.  I just think it would take Rodgers actually wanting to come here for us to have a shot.  I seriously don't that's the case.

    • Cam was hitting his stride as a QB in 2017/2018.     This is why I think stats like completion percentage are overrated. As long as a QB is clutch and makes the throws to win the game the rest doesn’t really matter. What good is a check down stat padder if they’re a choker.  Until Norv Turner (and briefly Chud) got here we put Cam in high pressure throwing situations all the time. We also ran the ball on first down more than most teams in the NFL in the Ron era. Coupled with shitty WRs, all that is expressed in his stats. I also assume Cam took the ball in his hands on many occasions rather than trust Funchess to catch the ball.    It was also never Cams job to play the game like someone else. His presence on the field dictated the game in a way that is rarely seen.  He showed he could play the dink and dunk game just before TJ Watt. That didn’t suddenly make him better than his earlier seasons. He just got put in a legit under center  passing game again for first time since his rookie year with Chud.    Ron took the quickest path to success and abused the RPO because his ass was about to get fired.    Cam never got the credit for being the cerebral player that he was. I just think when you are legitimately a human Superman, sometimes the best play is having the ball in your hands. He was a better passer than Delhomme was.
    • I don't think Canales has any problem benching Bryce or moving on if Bryce doesn't come out playing like the end of last year.  It's year 3 no more excuses for Bryce
    • Yea Bryce was definitely a top half qb the second half of last season but I'm not sure Canales is 100% sold on him.  Like I've said in another post I think that's part of why we talked to so many South Carolina players in the draft process.  I think they are doing early due diligence on Sellers just in case.
