Tepper wanted Fields. Let his guys make the football decisions

QBs win games and CBs help make good Ds. It's the right call by Tepper but it's also time to put this staff on the clock. Start winning or get better people.

Qbs do not win games. We had one last year and he kinda sucks at winning games. CBs do not help make good Ds. We had plenty of CBs last year and did not have a good D.

Good QB wins games and good CB makes Ds good. If we thinks Horn is a good CB thus making the D good and Fields is not a good QB helping us win games, then the pick is the right one.

I am sure that any coach in the league would rather have a top 10 QB than a top 10 CB, but lets see if Fields is such a good QB. And lets see what Horn can do before we say taking a CB over a QB was wrong.

I’m glad Tepper didn’t overrule his staff.

But there are good odds he was right.  No matter how much we needed a DB, in the big picture QB is still the biggest need in Carolina.

and just from a positional impact perspective, it’s also easy for Fields to make this decision look really bad.  Given he will be playing QB for a very good Chicago team.....and DBs don’t have the same impact on games QBs do.

I will say that one of the best two CBs was there. Surtain may or may not turn out to be the best in this class.

TBD.  Horn may be the better fit in Snow’s scheme or because he is a better matchup against division competition.

Good on Tepper for trusting his people. Now his people better hope they're right or they may realize they were given the rope to hang themselves with.

If Fields ends up being better than Darnold, Dave may never sit on his hands again.

And nobody could blame him.

Teddy was a colossal mistake, and now if Fields turns out good and Darnold does not then I could see any owner becoming frustrated.

I don’t think we see fields start this year. At least not to begin with. It seems clear by the team choice they want to develop him about behind the vet. Maybe throw him in if the vets stink it up.

I don’t expect Horn to play great this year either.  All of these guys you need to give a few years to accurately judge.

    • We were very banged up going into that Rams game. Our second best player (Horn), our best safety, and both starting ILBs were out. I feel like our defense has really been impressive considering a year ago. If our offense learns how to be balanced like they were against the Rams, we can honestly beat anyone. Those losses to the Saints and 49ers may have been what we needed to figure out that when we depend too much on either running exclusively or passing exclusively that we are no good. That Rams game showed what we can do when we are in sync offensively and it was so much fun to watch. If that offense shows up this week then go ahead and cancel your plans the second weekend in January as you will have a game to watch.
    • and we won a game in the playoffs.....where our leading receiver was Fozzy Whitaker w/ just 39 rec yards.  That feels like a 2025 Panthers type winning setup.
    • Yep, the board has amnesia to the weekly swings and declarations made.  The same cast of characters has been talked about vastly different repetitively and you only have to go back as far as the game before the last one....and just keep repeating that pattern largely backwards.  I personally feel confident that this team is not bad and it is not good.  And while that is nice to get back to be out of the literal dumpster......I don't view this team as an average team w/ a puncher's chance.  All average teams are of different molds.  We are more the, if a really good team plays bad, you will lose to us variety.  We aren't bad enough where you can get away with a bad day vs us anymore.
