This guy might not develop to the best pass catcher, and even if he doesn't I'm totally fine with it. He will make such an impact in zone blocking that it will make up for it. If you want to be sold quickly on how awesome this kid (20 years old) is, skip to 2:55 seconds. That's the type of dog we need. I see his comp being more of a Kyle Juszczyk than George Kittle.

Literally. No more automatically going down when touched with no yards after contact, Tremble already more man than Thomas could ever imagine to be lol

I agree. I wish we would've waited around the 4th round or so, but I'm not mad just because he wasn't given many opportunities in the passing game, but with how athletic and how high his ceiling is, I don't mind it. Glad we are just finding our identity.

You have to trust our board.  I know many of you may think he would have been available later but maybe we thought differently.

I had never heard of him until last night but watching his clips intrigued me.  Especially when they compared him to Kittle.  Just because he didn't catch many passed doesn't mean he won't.  The biggest problems most TE have seems to be blocking.  This guy has it down and the receiving part may come easier for him.  

Ian Thomas could catch a ball but he sucks at blocking. And never got it.  I'll be happy trying the other way.  Get a good blocking TE and he'll develop into a receiving TE.

Lastly, I think with this guy we have a better chance of converting more of those 3rd and short and 4th and short plays.

He addresses and offensive need and I think he's perfect.

This is actually the pick I'm most excited about from last night. It addresses two major concerns we have this off-season:

Pass protection: Is he an elite tackle? No. Is he a complete solution? No. But with the surefire starting caliber Tackles gone, (basically since Sewell) the best we could hope to do was augment the pass protection. And it doesn't look like there's any better option for exactly that than Tremble. 

Preserve Mccaffrey: If we've learned anything, when a coach has a player like CMac at their disposal, spelling him doesn't seem to be an option in their minds. So he's going to get almost all the carries and almost all the abuse. So again the best we could hope for is an elite blocker who can help ensure he takes a lot less abuse. More lanes opening up, less getting blind-sided, this is an investment in the best running back in the game today. 

I don't see how you can look at what Tremble brings to the offense and question if he was worth a 3rd or risk him not being there in the 4th. I love this pick!

That is actually not a bad point. As bad as we are likely to be at LT, having a nasty blocking TE could be the safety net that limits how much damage our LT situation could cause. 

Considering how likely it is that our LT is a turnstile, if we see a lot of schemed help from Tremble(or others) that would make me feel a lot better about the coaches understanding the roster situation a little better. The anti-Shula move.

scouts have been saying for years they didn't understand why Notre Dame didn't throw to him more often. Most likely because it's Notre Dame and you Have To Play The Right Way At Notre Dame and That Means NOTRE DAME FOOTBALL or whatever dumb bullshit

when you get stuck in a role it's hard to break out of it.

I said this yesterday but he’s essentially an oline pick. Also he doesn’t have bad hands. Even just a quick YouTube search of all his catches shows him making really good contested, leaping and diving catches. He’s super talented. I imagine he’ll be used in the passing game some but I wouldn’t completely count out his abilities as a pass catcher yet.

I get it, we just see him as more of a complete TE than ND played him. Also have a great blocker in the backfield will help our shaky line.

I think the issue was he had more drops than touchdowns at Notre Dame. So he moved down the priority list when it came to throwing the ball to tight ends. Then they recruited Michael Mayer who was the number 2 TE in the country in high school and he is actually a great pass catcher. So Tremble lost the opportunity to a freshman and the freshman gave no reasons for them to look elsewhere. True freshman tight end finished the year tied for first in catches on the team, was second in yards and tied for second in TDs. And again, Tremble dropped his way out of being a target for them. 
 

But this isn’t ignore the TE is somehow Notre Dame football lol. The true freshman tight end was their second most targeted pass catcher. Tremble just gave them too many reasons to throw his way.

      Hard to pass up millions for a couple of days work per week for a coaching gig in the NFL that is 60-80 hours each week during the season and a more relaxed 50 hours a week during the off season. Yeah, I'd love to see him as our DC but hard to see him giving up the cushy job there if he gets it. And he's going to be a great commentator for the network.

      Really, I think that is where negotiations come in. If you've got a QB getting you to 10 wins but statistically he's not a great performer, then you say look you can take $22 million or you can try it on the market. Because let's face it, out there, any leadership skills that we're seeing aren't going to be on the table, it's just going to be performance and that lands him in the QB2 market, which is much, much less lucrative (although any of us would love that money).  No one is saying that Bryce will be a $50 million QB, barring something short of a miraculous jump. I'm just saying that if we are winning somehow with him at the helm, then it would be fuging stupid to dive back into the rookie pool all over again. Let's say we do hit the 10 win mark, heck, let's call it 11 and a second round in the playoffs. I think we can all say that would be a really uplifting result and one that should be doable if we have good play. What do we do then? Here's what I would offer if I were Morgan and Tepper. $25 million a year for 3 years, each year with up to $10 million in incentives for touchdowns, wins, playoff depth, being under 10 interceptions, completing a full season, passing yardage milestones, taking less than 15 sacks. Look, Bryce isn't a Ferrari, he isn't a Corvette, or a mid-level BMW. He's probably a new Toyota Sienna that will definitely get you somewhere and bring the whole team along with it, no fuss but not a lot of pizazz.  And really, it's about the destination, not about what drove you there.
