How many roster spots are up for grabs?

Not many.

I say 5 or 6. Cannon, Smith or Bonnafon is gonna get cut with us drafting Hubbard.

2 of Walker, Stevens, Grier will likely make it. Probably will pick up another camp arm soon.

CB will be interesting. Thomas-Oliver or Melvin likely odd man out.

best chance to make the team is through linebacker or guard.

I think Thomas could be out at TE.  The RBs you mentioned as well.  Agree on LB and would add safety

We were 5-11 this year. Shouldn't be a whole lot set in stone.

Especially on defense...almost all of those spots should be up for grabs. 1DT spot, 1S spot, and 1DE spot is all that should be set...I don't exactly love our LBs may be the worse we will ever be two years in a row.

Offense most of that actually is set with a few OL spots open the rest was for depth.(hence all the defense being drafted)

If the secondary moves work out and DL moves work out, it could disguise the obvious weaknesses at LB. Also consider that in the very unlikely event that Perryman is healthy, we could suddenly get a LOT better at LB. I wouldn't bank on that being the case but eventually perhaps we will hit on one of these "oft injured" guys.

OL should be one of the most interesting positions. Outside Moton and Paradis, literally every other spot should be up for grabs between our FA signings and draft picks.

The #3 and #4 WR spots will be an underrated battle too, IMO. Some interesting options we drafted mixed with some veteran returnees. Of course, we will all be comparing those guys to what Samuel does next season. That adds a lot of intrigue. Plus Anderson and Moore are coming up on deals, so that adds an additional element.

Well Long snapper is going to see a new face. JJ is 35 I think? I just hope they don't pull the Hurney move and keep TWO long snappers on the roster.

Nah that pick was actually really well thought out. Ironically I am really behind it. I’m the 6th round you get a guy that could contribute for the next decade or longer and save us a lot of cap space by moving on. That was quietly a masterful pick.

I agree. Not mad at the pick. Sucks for JJ tho. HIs only fault is his age.

I look for the following possible veteran cuts probable to make the roster before the draft:

1. Stantly Thomas-Oliver III CB

2. Ian Thomas TE

3.  Rashaan Melvin CB

4. Christian Miller OLB

5. Austin Larkin DE

6. Dennis Daley OL (unless he can find health)

7.Trenton Cannon  RB

8.  Rodney Smith RB

9.  Colin Thompson TE

10.  Brandon Zylstra WR

11. Greg Little OT

12. JJ Jansen (that one hurts) LS

13.  Joey Slye K

So it is hard to say--we added 11 picks (I think 10 make the roster), and 11 free agents that will stick in my opinion, and I think 1 undrafted free agent makes this roster (Moore). So that is 22 new faces, leaving 9 not listed above on the bubble, but I think the roster limit increases in 2021.  Remember, you will have a player or two on IR, so this should cover it WORST CASE SCENARIO.

They are:

Frankie Luvu LB

Marquis Haynes Edge

Troy Pride CB

Kenny Robinson S

Stephen Sullivan TE

Yall should try this--it is hard.

    • That’s a buncha nothing. He’s just stating a fact that a team with an 8-9 record just won the division. Nothing personal against us.
    • I’d love it if the Panthers sent a big middle finger to every pundit out there who’s saying we’re the worst team to ever make the playoffs and we don’t belong.  I don’t think that’s true, but I also think everything broke our way in that week 13 win vs LA.  Hard to imagine  that happening again exactly the same.  We would need to win the turnover margin +2 minimum. And our running game would have to be dominant, and they haven’t been very effective lately. Plus we got two long TD passes on 4th down…hard to duplicate because they’ll be more prepared.  I’d say Canales held his own against McVay last time, but he tends to get out coached in these higher stakes scenarios. I’ll be there pulling for Carolina all the way, but I just don’t see us getting over this hurdle right now.  If by some miracle Robert Hunt starts and that sparks the run game to show up in a huge way…I think we’d have to outgain them in rushing by 100 yards or so to control TOP…then maybe we’ll stay in it enough to give Bryce the ball on a game winning drive.  I might put money on Panthers to cover, but not to win.   LA    3   14  3   10   30 Car   7   3   3   10   23
    • Dave finished the year weak and as for the 8 wins we'll if anyone in the division wasn't terrible then it would have been 2 6 win teams and a 12 win team. All of the 8-9 teams would have been 6 win teams if they weren't playing each other. Dave hasn't earned jack other than a participation trophy that Atlanta gave him.
