Stanley Cup Playoffs: Carolina Hurricanes Game Thread

Its been crazy seeing these guys grow. Tom Dundon, Rod Brindamour, and Don Waddell deserve so much respect for turning the ship around and getting us here.

It's so refreshing following a team that actually grows, develops, and learns from mistakes. At this point I want to face the Bruins to exorcise those demons. I don't think the Hurricanes would get bullied anymore.

I’m a Colorado Avalanche guy but I do pull for the local boys when they aren’t playing each other.

I’ve really been hoping for an Av’s-Cane’s cup final this year even with the Av’s home ice advantage in that scenario. I think it would be pretty damn epic.

Not bullied for sure, though I won’t trust any  NHL officiating crew that steps on the ice for a Boston/Carolina playoff series for a long time.

The Caps vs. Bruins series is great because it removes one of the only two remaining teams I hate.

I don't even care about facing either of them. Just let them lose.

Yeah, not scared of Boston's team at all, their team isn't that good any more, we've become significantly better this season with our forward depth and then most importantly Ned has stepped up as a borderline elite goalie right now. But the refs being in Boston's pocket definitely make it a series I'd like to avoid. Although that also goes for the Penguins, Leafs, etc. If we can beat the Lightning next round, it would be nice to have another Islanders matchup...

Agreed about any series vs. Boston, Pittsburgh or Tampa Bay with regard to the refs.  I don't see it as much with the Leafs, but put into a potential series with them to go to the Cup Finals and the refs probably do tilt to Toronto.

Basically the Canes need to leave no doubt about who is going to win by playing timid, passive aggressive hockey.  If we go out there and play our game then the refs can't decide it....

    • I guess I should have stipulated outside the sacred cow.   I complained from year one that Bryce should compete for and win the starting job on his own merit but no he was just handed it. I have been right there with everyone that wants competition.  But I don’t really have a huge problem with it for this season the way it has gone because where are the viable people we don’t have to trade for? I actually am okay with tiny hands Pickett because he is so close to Bryce arm strength wise and to be honest, skill wise. Probably. And it is only a one year deal.  That also takes I to account that the QB class is looking stacked next year and if Young fails miserably then we get either a reset or a real competition and there will be more guys that I would like looking at in the FA QB class next year as well.    I sort of accept where we are this year and look at it as a treading water year. I just want to get to next year with some clarity. More than anything. And they did empty out the room. Again, who was really there for us?  And I know it would not be a true competition at this point anyway. They are giving him the year, like it or not.    Also I don’t give a poo about winning games IF he sucks and or goes down after sucking because draft position and that stacked QB class.  And I want out from under him So Bad.     So I guess it is several factors that lessen my anxiety over his backup this particular season.    I am not trying to convince anyone, but you asked.
    • What happened to King? Was he a no show?
    • think these smaller Qb's are going to have a much harder time convincing an NFL team to draft them. not saying a smaller Qb under 6 feet tall will not make an NFL roster .it will most likely be a UDFA contract more or less prove it deal.NFL teams have been burnt time & time again investing in these small NFL Qbs & i think  teams are now finally starting to realize that investing in these smaller Qb's under 6 feet tall is simply a bad idea  ...just saying
