Add that and 2019 together and it’s not surprising that we struggled to finish 3-24 the past three years. At least we have Burns 3 more years before we can’t re-sign him. 😉

I doubt Burns goes anywhere.  Players like playing for Rhule.

If you include outside factors 2016 was by far the worst. I think every Panther fan wanted one of the two Henry’s with our first pick and Gettlefug decided to use our top pick on a small school back up DT (DT was arguably our strongest position group at the time) and then triple dip on boom or bust CBs. Did Sandland ever even catch a football in a Panthers uniform?

His fug up with Norman basically caused him to tank the entire draft. 15-1 to 6-10 and missing the playoffs is quite the accomplishment. Don’t see how you can argue another draft was worse.

Mr Chris Jones went 35th overall, not long after Bulter. Imagine Jones on this DL of Brown, Burns, Reddick, YGM..

Thanks Gman for having a weirdo size fetish, you freak.

Still would have been a luxury pick. Olsen and Stew were both aging vets coming towards the ends of their contracts. We had just double dipped on Star and Short two years prior.

Gettleman used our first pick in back to back drafts on our strongest positional groups on the team, Linebacker and Defensive tackle. A team in a Super Bowl window cannot afford to take guys with first round picks that you know have no chance of starting. That’s just terrible management.

I heard a radio interview with Gman and he agreed (without saying) that he should have picked Hunter Henry. Glad neither Herniay or Size fetish gman are no longer GMing the panthers. Tho I think a combo of the two would be fine as long as each focused on their strengths.

    • We could quibble about was that an answer to what I asked but I  don’t see it as being one. Look, he agreed to this Evero thing. Up front. Apparently anyway. Took the job with those conditions in place. I buy that and will work off of it.  This play calling issue isn’t the same thing. I am not in the mood to delve into Canales’ shortcomings and get out the pitchforks at the moment. I will abstain from that topic and stick to the quandary the dissenters who want to usurp his play calling power, find themselves in. As far as that goes I am still on the fence and think the play calling is Bryce centric and the play selection/playbook is affected. That does not mean I know that if the playbook was open he would be great play caller. Just that he is hampered right now.  Inserting an OC not of Canales’ approval changes the original parameters of the assumed agreement.  Unless you think Tepper placed a contractual prescription to allow Tepper to dictate that he can insert a play caller of his choosing after a time period if he is not satisfied with Canales’ work.  Which, do you really think that is in play?  I do not.    Unless it is, Canales has the option to yea or nay. As I said, it could be forced on him. But they only do that if they want him out.  And as of now his stock is up, I would have to say I don’t own any but I think it is up. He had the stadium rocking, the team in the playoffs, and has that sorry lil draft pick trending upward. Even at this very low rate.  I think he has ‘hand’ right now as they say on Seinfeld. This is something that may get play in the 2026 season, not now. IMO.
    • Canes now have 19 losses on the year. Here is the truly alarming stat. 13 of those were multiple goal loses. 9 of those were 3 goal plus losses. This team is getting blown out more than any other year under Rod.     why?  Blue line is a total mess. It’s just no good with their combinations.  It pains me to say this, but they were mikes better with Burns and Orlov. They need Slavin so bad.  Health.  Size. The team is too small and has no physical play. Most forwards do not forecheck.  Worst under Rod.  Goalie play. Pretty average to sub par. PK is downright bad. It’s allowing a little over a goal a game. Worst under Rod.    Team will not win a playoff round under its current group of players. It’s not constructed to do so against heavy teams.      solutions.  Must get physical size by the trade deadline. Rod and Tulsky know this. That probably has to come with the 2C.  KKs size but a better scorer and meaner.  The need another physical winger.  Goalie. Either go all in on a top guy on a bad team or get average. Lastly, better defense. Need a Right shot heavy defenseman.  Yes that could mean someone’s favorite dman could sit. Looking at you Boom.    thats 3-4 new guys that must be brought in for them to have a chance at a cup.  And it’s all players that are different and better than what they have.  They have the cap. KK is gone. Add 4 mill back.    And then hope it’s jells unlike Mikko.
