It's not a comparison. It's a clear example of a team looking like trash in practice and it not mattering. We also looked like trash in joint practices in 2015 before our SB run. Practices and preseason are not at all indicative of how good a team will be, so to make statements about how good the team is based on it is ridiculous.

Am I misremembering or did we not have starters play in the preseason a bunch in 2015? The only starter I would sit is cmc. That’s it.

Okay. We shall see. I'm sure we're just intentionally sandbagging. They'll never see us coming once the games start counting for real. *evil villain laugh*

We played our starters in the preseason that year. They were thoroughly outplayed by Miami and New England in that preseason.

The comparisons to highly successful organizations is baffling. I don't know where this confidence comes from.

It's selective.

It's like the "they are treating Darnold like a rookie" arguement that was heavily played.  Starting from scratch with him.  Comes and goes.  Every young QB was out getting real reps last weekend.  Suddenly, well Darnold clearly isn't a rookie and doesn't need to risk injury.

CMC doesn't need to play in the preseason.  Just like Lamar Jackson doesn't.  Which has nothing to do with our weak OL, QB, and rookies.

Lol, it's practice. I wouldn't read anything into it at all. The Patriots have done a lot of joint practices in the last 2 decades and had plenty where they've looked like crap and obviously still had success in actual games.

I don't know why this needs to be said but we aren't a dynasty and have a history of coming out flat in games 🤷‍♂️

I was just making a observation that I haven't even seen a Darnold's jersey worn by a fan yet..I mean I saw a Colts fan with a Wentz jersey yesterday...and today at our team's practice there's no support for our own QB .. that's really telling and needs to be addressed.

I am hesitant to buy a jersey of any player that I don't think is a long term guy. For example, I have Smitty, Olsen, Stew, Luke, and got CMC last year. Until he proves himself, which I REALLY hope he does, Sam is just a 2 year rental as far as I'm concerned. I don't want to be that asshole who blew $100 on a jersey for a guy that may end up being a footnote in the Panthers' history books.  Let him take us to the playoffs the next 2 seasons, sign a long term deal, and THEN I'll get a jersey.

    • He makes a good point about Wallace.  In fairness to Wallace it is hard to play your position as freely as you need to when your defensive line is getting pushed around like ragdolls.  One of the greatest attributes a defensive line has is sucking up blocks, freeing up your linebackers.  Our defensive line couldn't suck up a lollipop more or less blocks.  I think Evans, Sanders and Tremble are going to be a really nice TE group.  I can see all three getting time on the field.  If Sanders can improve as a blocker teams won't be so inclined to believe it is a pass play whenever Sanders is on the field.  Ryan Fitzgerald, I think was an awesome pick-up. Hopefully he can fill our kicker void. Luke Kandra many turn out to be our next Norwell.  Everything I have heard about him says he's a beast.  He needs some refinement, but the good news is he's got Hunt and Lewis (arguably the best guard tandem in the league) to learn from.
    • Great teams build through the draft and have several young players that start that are on rookie contracts. It's important to hit on players in rounds 4 thru 7.  These should be future starters and solid depth.  When you hit on most of your picks you free up a lot of cap space for those one- or two-year players to fill spots you are thin at. No GM is going to perfect on all their picks.  You're going to whiff every once in a while.  That was Hurney problem.  He'd nail the first pick but after that it was reach after reach and we couldn't get any depth on this team. I'm excited about Morgan as our GM and hopefully he'll be around a long time.  It will be even better if Canales can continue to grow as a head coach, both in the development of young players and play calling. I remember last season after Young came back in the lineup and started to perform well.  We saw different plays I had only seen other teams use.   If Canales's play design and play calling continue to grow. Morgan and Canales will be linked together for a long time.  It would be nice to see a Coach and GM together for a decade or two. Go Panthers
    • They also came out for the encore and the singers were dressed in canes jerseys. Pretty fuging cool.
