2015 panther starters played the entire first half against the dolphins. In the second preseason game.

One of our starters was literally udfa rookie Corey "Philly" Brown. Terrance Marshall played in the preseason game so that's a wash.

Mike Tolbert and CAP were the starting backs that game.

The only "Vets" on offense that started that was a week 1 starter were Cam and Ted. Cotch did not play. Stew had 2 carries.

And to top it all off -- who cares its preseason. Cam was 4-10 that game with an Int. Cam has always been poo in preseason.

But hey since we're talking about past history remember 2019 when our starting QB played in the preseason then got hurt on the first possession. Yeah me too.

Wonder why Rhule prefers a controlled area for his team to build synergy.

The reason I'd like to see Darnold get some snaps in a preseason game is that it is just more reps, and it's even more of a 'real' environment than the joint practices... I'm not concerned with how well or poorly he plays... I'd like to see him get as much exposure to our offense as possible... Plays and players he'll be playing with.

I'm not going to scream and curse Rhule if he doesn't, just seems like Darnold could benefit from it.

And the offensive line. I already said cmc is the only player I would sit. You can downplay this all you want but the fact Cam played an entire half and Darnold might not play at all is concerning especially with all the other variables in there about him and this being a new system and new team. Get these guys use to playing in games with each other. Darnold is not the same player as Cam. He needs work.

What rhule is doing is very abnormal. Hope it works out but if we come out looking sloppy as hell against the shithole jets you guys will just blame it on something else.

Not really. Comparing the Patriots organization who has won multiple super bowls and the 2015 panthers (who btw played their starters in preseason games) to the youngest squad in the nfl with a brand new qb learning a new system and who has struggled mightily in his first 3 years is the real hoot. The correct logic is these guys need real game day reps to continue to try to work the kinks out and gel. Padded practice scrimmages are different then live game day reps. This isn’t rocket science. The only starter who should sit is cmc.

Brody you just said the starters need to play the entire half.

in the 2nd preseason game.

Nah that's a hoot right there.

He's right.

yeah i'll blame on us being a young team

i promise you playing 2 drives against the ravens wouldn't change that. It didn't change poo in 15. 15 was the Greg and Cam show with the Defense playing lights out.

Absolutely no question about it, these guys clearly need game time together to adjust to the system. Especially Darnold and the O line. If they don’t play Saturday, that’s a problem

Funny I was drug thru the mud here for suggesting they play a few series last Sunday.  People accused me of wanting them to play "for my own entertainment".

Cam and Greg are not on this roster. This is a completely different team. Y’all are really bad at this.

Thats how it always historically goes.  When there were 4 PS games, USUALLY the 1's would play a couple series maybe a quarter in game 1, then usually a half in game 2, then a half and somewhat into the 3rd in game 3, then sit completely game 4.

    • The teams this 2nd year player (can’t really blame the years before he was drafted on him) was playing were going 100% as most do most weeks in the NFL. The whole argument is about his play during that period and how well was he actually playing. I’m with you on the winning though. Just start winning and fans will get excited. Start getting in the playoffs and winning and we won’t care how his PFF or box score stats look. 200 yards a game to 400 yards a game, start scoring and winning playoffs games and 99% of fans will buy in.
    • Yeah, we are gonna be raw.  Wonnum, for the past 3 years, has been averaging 8 sacks a season (4 in one season when he missed half a season).  I am OK, but yes, they will be thrown to the fire.
    • I like this because it means one or both of the rookies will be thrust into a bigger role right away and we can see what they might be. I don't like this because it just makes our team that much younger and inexperienced.  You need vets to help the young guys learn, I just hope we aren't going too far in the opposite direction.  All our FA signings were guys just coming off their rookie deals too, I get why we're doing it, but having the savvy vets help in other ways too.
