But at the end of the day, what does being able to hit a miracle 65 yarder matter when you can't consistently hit the 35-40 yard ones

I'd go positive. Very vocally and publicly call out players who do something exceptionally well. Pro players, I would wager, beat themselves up enough when they make dumb mistakes. Making an example of them in front of their peers is like rubbing their nose in it. And it's been shown time and time again people respond much better to praise than punishment.

like any good boss (business, military, etc) make your expectations perfectly clear

I'm pretty indifferent.

And I get the hokey college stuff...but we are dealing with the youngest roster in the NFL.

Not so sure it's working from all the penalties that I keep hearing about?

Make them run laps or whatever, but the sign is just gimmicky

it's a textbook example of why people knock college coaches and the struggles they have when it comes to million dollar professionals and college kids IMO. 

BUT.....I think it is a great idea for the huddle.  Instead of calling them bans.  We can call them trips to the DBO sign.  Takes about a week to get to the sign and back.

Why not have an accurate kicker with a smaller leg?  You can just go for it on 4th and short where the FG would be 50-60 yards anyways.
