This is why I found Robby's extension a bit baffling and why it leaves me a bit concerned about our plans for DJ.

I don't see a big reason for concern. Is it possible that they don't see him in the future plans? Yes. Is it likely? No. The biggest question will be what DJ wants and will we be willing(or really should we) pay it.

I don't think we should infer anything about their intentions for DJ Moore from the Robby deal.

I’m not worried about DJ. I understand that Brady may have a HC opportunity open up soon, but as long as he’s here I think it’s very safe to say he wants 3 very viable WRs. That’s part of his game plan. This team isn’t moving on from DJ because we extended Robby and have good rookie WRs.

The concert is foreign to a team that’s struggled to have more than one competent WR (and often times not even that many) on its roster for the last decade, but I think it’s pretty safe to say this offense intends to have 3+ dangerous big play WRs going forward and will prioritize them.

Yeah I mean the team may have decided that signing DJ just projected to be too expensive when the time comes...  Who honestly knows?  Aside from that specifically, the team has to be aware that we have a potential surplus of value at that position that could be better served as $/roster spots for other players.

Lots of camp hero’s over the years. Many were WRs. Most didn’t pan out.

Let’s see what they do in real games.

This too. Lots of preseason MVP's had really short NFL careers. I like what I see from them but let's wait until they are top 5 rookies AFTER the season before we talk of tough decisions on personnel in the WR corps.

    • Kon is a damn stud but it’s not any individual player’s team. All of the “big 3” are incredibly and equally important IMO. And LaMelo makes Kon way better (look at his shooting splits with LaMelo on the floor vs without. Also Moose and even Miles are important cogs. Honestly think we’re 1 piece away from being legit top contenders if the young guys continue to develop the next year or two. I trust this FO to be patient to find that piece within the next 2-3 years and not force anything. Plenty of time and even without adding anyone we have the pieces in place overall already to compete with any team.
    • We lost 2 very close and winnable games against top teams in the league while missing 3 critical players despite 2 of our top 3 players shooting unusually terribly. Still split the 4 games that Moose and Miles were suspended, winning the most important one vs the Hawks. This ain’t yo mama’s Hornets man. Hopefully Coby can go soon but even if not Moose and Miles are huge additions for our starting lineup and bench rotations. Schedule is pretty tough after these next 4 but I think we’ll take care of business the next 4 to get to .500 then finish slightly above .500 after that to get a 7 or 8 seed. Keep it rolling boys. Also Kon is having an insanely historic rookie season as a shooter. Like truly can’t believe my eyes watching this kid level of historic. Man what a fuging home run of a draft pick and exactly what this team needed to take that next step forward. He’s gonna shatter the rookie 3 point and franchise 3 point records. Has a real chance to be the 2nd best 3 point shooter ever or dare I say even get to Curry’s level (as a pure shooter, Curry obviously has way more to his game that has made him a GOAT).
    • I hear you but yeah like you say, above average. His numbers were good. You’d think it would be a no brainer. Anyhow… I guess the new staff is also fine with him walking?    I hope if we sign him there isn’t some secret issue of his that led to him not being valued.
