How extensively will the offense need to be rebuilt this off-season?

So let’s say the offense continues to struggle.

I think it’s becoming more and more obvious that unless something crazy happens, Joe Brady won’t be here next season for one reason or another.

The jury is still out on Darnold but next season there should (hopefully) be a second potential starting option on the roster, whether it is a veteran backup or a rookie QB.

CMC continues to appear injury prone for a second straight season.

The offensive line might return only one starter in RT Taylor Moton.

On the bright side, the WR corp has a deep amount of talent that should all be back next season. TE Tommy Tremble is showing potential. Ian Thomas is a solid backup and may or may not be back.

Regardless, it’s looking like the offense could be VERY different next season.

If we don’t rebuild the OL then we are doomed to continue to fail and not have a consistent offense. Our WRs can get rid of the dropsies as yesterday was bottom of the barrel, but a better OL will let them shine. CMC has to stay healthy. I wouldn’t be surprised if he could have played late last year but there was no reason. If we lose the next 2, would anyone be shocked if they shelved him again or really limited the touches? Next year, we better not have a Thursday game and if we do, he doesn’t play.

I feel like the Panthers would have been better off forfeiting the Thursday night games the past few seasons. No joke.

-Hire an offensive coordinator with NFL experience.

-Sign Terron Armstead and Connor Williams in free agency.

-Use our first rounder on the best Center in the draft or trade back to get some extra picks if a top tier Center prospect is still available.

If we still suck Fire Rhule and let Fitterer pick his own coaching staff and QB.

I think as much as we talk about it, having an offensive line that is literally offensive to lines everywhere, is the major reason our offense is putrid.  The best play callers in history couldn’t scheme around 3 guys whiffing blocks every other play.

Mike Vick couldn’t escape behind this line.  Brett Favre would miss games behind this line.  Cal Ripken would take the day off before he played behind this line.  That one kid that had perfect attendance k-12 called out sick instead of playing behind this line.

The saddest fact of all?  Cam had a better line.  He did.  Srsly.

OL is a massive, franchise torpedoing problem. So, we must get it better. It doesn't even have to be good with only a single offseason to replace 7-8 offensive lineman. Just get me 1-2 more quality starters next to Moton. That's at least a start.

QB is unlikely to be addressed in this coming offseason, so we will have to suffer through Darnold another season most likely.

Outside of that, the offense has more than enough weapons to compete.

Until the Panthers can win consistently without CMC (either to injury or ineffectiveness) we are the 90's Detroit Lion's offense that was completely dependent on Barry Sanders.  We look competent, at the very least, on offense when he's healthy and heavily involved.  Without CMC we look like a D-III college team out there.

It does not need to be rebuilt Brady just thought up a genius play for Sunday!

Robby acts like hes going deep but actually runs a comeback, DJ goes deep into double coverage, Chuba flails around like he is an actual target in the passing game, TMJ is wide open but Sam is not allowed to go through his reads and must play in the system. Whats a TE? lol

Profit.

I'm a Jet fan. Posted a few times here. You're offensive line is awful.  And it's deja'vu for Sam. Same inside rush problems he had to deal with in N.Y. Against a quality pass rush and secondary, Sam doesn't have a chance. Considering all that, if his receivers held onto the ball yesterday, the Panthers still might have won.

We have Darnold for another year. We will have a 5-15 draft pick so likely QB is out. We need to build the oline. We have the cap to spend in FA for that and then draft that.

It will be ok.

@CRAbelieves we should jettison Sam because "Why should we give him another year?"

    • I think Bryce balls out again and the Panthers win in a close one.  Panthers will have a defender shadow CMC the whole game so I expect he'll be contained to under 100 yards.
    • yeah, Steve was basically like on any actual topic that approached his flaws/problems.....89 went with the long winded, try to sound like a wise man strategy of just basically just pleading the 5th (and sprinkling in the idea that others could of been wrong or wrong too).   also, in terms of the assaults and stuff like that....it feels like old 89, I feel has sort of forgotten his well-documented confessions and apologies about that aspect and era of his and was trying to re-write his story/image in hindsight.   And in all honesty, it seemed like a PR move on the twitter/cheating stuff also attempting to play himself as not the bad guy some think with the intentional vague suggestions. and the Pivot and all these athlete moves to basically take the reigns and power from traditional outlets exposes they have just as bad as flaws if not more often than the traditional media folks.  I mean I do like the free form long talk when dudes are telling stories but all this stuff is largely flawed and controlled PR often.
    • Sadly, I agree and I’m a huge Melo fan. Might be time to ship him out. Don’t want to make the same mistakes the Pels did. They should’ve gotten rid of Zion two years ago.
