Never seen so much mud thrown at the wall before. Virtually any take that could possibly be "reported" about this situation has been reported. That way literally anything that happens, these folks are gonna be able to point back to some "report" and say they called it. Yeah, you're gonna get it right somewhere along the way when you slather the entire wall with mud.

That’s the biggest issue with NFL media these days. Especially around draft time. It’s getting beyond ridiculous.

This just seems like posturing by both sides to me trying to get someone to budge a bit leading up to the 2nd.

The truth in all of this is probably somewhere in the middle.

I’m 50/50 on this happening before the deadline. I think Tepper wants it to happen but they’re trying to limit more damage being done considering what we’ve given away for castoff players.

If we've already "re-engaged" multiple times you can hardly say that's the final nail. Saying now they weren't offering CMC seems like another face saving attempt. What I gather from this whole saga isn't anything particularly good. Our big decision makers seem to change course on a whim and if you look at the pattern of how they handled the situation with Newton and Bridgewater publicly this all fits with that dysfunction. It is what it is 🤷‍♂️

Calculated positioning is what I see, as well. They’re trying to drive the price down by being “not interested”.

I’m convinced that Rhule and Fitterer have no interest in drafting/developing a rookie QB. They want to fast-track this thing on offense to complement our defense. The evidence is there in the off-season, tried for Watson and then Stafford then settled on Darnold. Now, Watson’s back on the menu.

It's not dying or definitive until he is traded, cut, arrested or whatever. Just say his name 3 times and there is a hot take about it.

I have no idea what will happen but it's not going away. Hopefully it just gets quieter after the trade deadline.

Until then, the morons will dance and sing and make a lot of noise getting clicks.

Agreed 100%

    • Sure, but if that happens, the draft pick will look even worse for the Falcons, as instead of getting them a player that could win now, they took someone who ran off their prize FA QB after 3 years and now looks like they may be a bust. Penix was one of the more polished QB's in the draft and would have probably been a rookie starter if taken by someone with an uncertain starting QB, if he's not ready to step in and play well in year 3, then it's probably not going to work out. So the only way it helps their contract situation, is if it doesn't work out as they plan, but if it does, they're going to cut Cousins after 2 years and then have to give Penix a monster deal the following offseason.
