If you could rewind time…Would you have picked Mac Jones? (Article)

No I wouldn't have picked Mac over Horn but I would have picked him over the other rookies if I were picking a QB and I told everyone that at the time. People laughing then aren't laughing so hard now. I told yall he was the most pro ready and would be fine in a good system.

I know, but man Horn is gonna be a stud. And corner was almost as big a need. Either way we probably would have had regrets (not that horn is doing us any good, atm).

Yeah, I like Horn but having a franchise LT would be really amazing. Agree that CB was a big need but if anything, we proved this season that getting elite CB prospects and elite players was much easier than expected. Obviously we didn't know that at the time but it does genuinely hurt the argument for CB over LT. It's a weird downside of that great success the FO had.

Had Slater not looked so great, I wouldn't have buyer's remorse. But, who knows, maybe in 3 seasons Horn is an elite CB and Slater is Matt Kalil.

Well, I mean we already know our backup sooo.....

So what if a year in the system and tailoring a game plan to maximize his strengths might make him better than he has shown up to now? As a backup you get little practice with the ones and the game plan was formulated based on Darnolds strengths not PJ. This week he will get all the reps and the gameplan will be focused on him. Now if he still sucks then you might have a point.

How can you make an informed decision about someone who has only played eight games? He’s done ok, not great and not horrible. This team isn’t ready to bring in a rookie and help him succeed, which is why we have had to watch Teddy and Sam in Rhule’s first two years…

Fix the o-line in 22 then get your qb in 23

to be honest, I didn't read the entire thread, its like the huddle has PTSD and we are just running over the same old ground here. The staff picked defense to fix first and thought the could scheme an offense that wouldn't expose the O line or Sam.

As I wrote before, Horn will be something else but we brought in more secondary help and so maybe they should have drafted a QB. But Horn will be here for a couple of seasons and our defense was terrible last year. You got to like the of Gilmore move to add some veteran moxie.

so here's my take on the game, if our defense gets three turnovers from the rookie QB. its a win for the coaching staff. Defense will lose games like last year and that is hard to watch too. If we fly around and take BB out of his game, it could be something to see. As opposed we had a rookie QB and they stuffed him.

it sucks the we dont have a decent offense but the rookies we did get are playing hard and we just have to wait for the rest of pieces to be put in place. Imagine an all offense draft next year and have a balanced team that keeps MF pounding for a couple of years.

Spoiler Alert!

…he will still suck.

    • I didn’t like this draft at all. XL, our first pick had one good season out of five and doesn’t have burst off the line.  I wanted Ladd here because I think he’d have been a much better pairing for BY9s weak arm.  We need to be an excellent west coast style offense if Bryce is gonna shine.  A burner that takes 3 steps to get moving and doesn’t separate at the line is a bad choice IMO. I don’t even want to talk about drafting a RB after having Foreman make us feel better about trading CMC only to send him packing and give Sanders top FA money last year to fall on his face.  We always try to get cute and find value.  The fact that we were the first team to take a RB (one recovering from a serious injury no less) tells you we didn’t get the memo 31 other teams got.  RB has a huge role in protection responsibility, it’s a huge reason some great backs are situational…they suck in protection.  A rookie RB helping protect BY doesn’t warm my heart.  We should have taken the top C on the board here IMO. LB and yet another project TE that’ll probably just frustrate us all for how long he hangs around seemingly doing nothing.  Then a bunch of dice rolls that aren’t changing any fortune unless it’s a complete accident. TLDR This whole draft looks like JAGs to me at best.  I don’t like the XL or JB picks at all.  Always happy to be wrong when I have a negative take.
