Cam brought keep pounding back. Tepper tried to kill it for some unknown reason.  Yesterday the attitude was back. It's about fuging time. Let him start tomorrow and the next 2 years.

I don't know who is trying to kill "Keep Pounding" within the organization, but it is disrespectful as hell to the legacy of a founding player, team leader and coach, Sam Mills.  It is a long established tradition as well for a team that doesn't have that many.  I appreciate many of the new regimes attempts to bring the Panthers organization into the 21st century, but they need to embrace this tradition, not destroy it.

Imagine crying all offseason about the "negativity" in the Huddle, then watching one of the worst QB's in franchise history while crying about "negativity", then being negative about the best QB in franchise history returning.

Imagine that.

They think we’re all boomers like they are and can’t find someone’s post history.

I think PJ still needs to get some snaps. He played decent yesterday. The dual QB system will keep defenses off guard. And definitely have Cam play in the red zone. PJ is terrible down there.

It may be that Brady is just terrible down there. His best bet was shown this weekend with the smart assessment, "Cam, what do you think you can do best with down there?" And then he called the plays Cam felt best with. That'll work just about every darned time.

The only issue, the only wrinkle, is when Cam and CMC aren't sure who is supposed to be the hero at that moment. The RPO does NOT work with them in that situation. It has to be decided before they ever get to the line or the two just cancel each other out. We've seen it happen enough times to know.

Is it the best scenario for Cam?  Not exactly.

But the most overlooked part of all of this is simple yet profound.

This became Cam’s team the minute he put that uniform back on.

You can’t assign that role, it’s organic.

Regardless of his status of knowing the playbook, he’s the leader now and until.  It would be flat out malicious to put PJ out there in a situation like this.

    • Joe Person   @josephperson · 16m     Panthers become the 1st team this yr with 5 weekly winners: Rico Dowdle, Ryan Fitzgerald, Sam Martin, Tre'von Moehrig and Bryce. Panthers last did that in 2017: Cam Newton, Julius Peppers, Luke Kuechly, Jonathan Stewart and Damiere Byrd.
    • Gotta wonder if Smitty's brain has turned to mush with how hard he played in the NFL
    • OK, fair enough--however, since my point was that drafting a QB in the top 10 is stupid, if you consider the players who were not drafted in the top 10 or those who WERE drafted in the top 10 and did not secure starting positions with the team that drafted them, you should see the point.  Is it smart to draft a QB in the top 10 when only 4 are still starting for the team that drafted them.  Next, consider that half of that number, 2, were drafted outside the first round.  Next, there are 4 (Goff, Mayfield, Jones, and Darnold) who are starting on other teams after busting.   That number could increase as Arizona seems ready to move on from Murray, Miami is not sold on Tua, and jacksonville is still waiting for Trevor to start looking elite.  Bryce?   So to answer your question, there are MANY more QBs in the NFL who have busted and become starters on other rosters, were drafted after day 1, or are still on the cusp than the four who have become elite.  I thought that point was made.
