This is reminiscent of when a fighter's corner is screaming random things at their fighter like "get up!" or "you gotta do something!" with no specific technical instruction. You're not adding anything more than random fan could add.

Reminds me of my last job.  Our boss would tell my buddy to “step up” constantly, but with no actual instruction on how to do so.  He ended up getting fired.  Poor guy

I think he felt the effort wasn’t even there

I mean, unlike all of us, he played defense in the NFL

And yes, the DC and position coaches can talk to them about positioning and gap control but from watching this clip, I feel like PR felt these guys were going through the motions

it’s one of the things that really concerns me about this team.  They remind of that bully in the movie ‘A Christmas Story’ who terrorizes all the school kids, until one school kid fights back and then it’s ‘tail between the legs time”.

I mean... was he supposed to go on the field and point their assignments out for them after the snap?

The expectations of some folks... yeesh.

Love seeing this fire on the sidelines. Just need it to be shown on the field as well.

A lot of times when a defense is getting gashed in the running game it’s not just about effort or having bigger players, it’s about discipline.

Gap responsibility and doing your assignment is paramount and my guess is this is why you are hearing all of these comments about leadership needing to hold people accountable.

You saw a 21 second clip.

    • Damn back to 10th. I only caught the last 5 minutes but some of those 3's were horrible lol. In that close of game you can't be launching those many hail mary's when you could be chipping away from the foul line. I guess no one wanted to get in the paint and didn't trust the refs to give them the calls maybe? Gonna watch the highlights to get a better idea of the flow of the game
    • I agree.  The Big 12 is a good conference, and he is the swinging dick in that conference.  If Bill Self retires, that sets Kansas back a bit, and Arizona moves even further ahead as the best team in that conference.  Arizona can crush west coast recruiting with USC / UCLA no longer being relevant for LA kids, and Gonzaga not being able to compete moneywise.   If Lloyd comes here, he will be second fiddle to Duke every single year in NIL and recruits.  Not to mention the entire SEC and Big East for kids who want to stay in those regions to play. This is why I keep saying go get Mark Few.  Has proven he can do more with less from an X / O perspective but can also recruit All American players and compete at a high level. He's a god at Gonzaga, but for $9M he'd make the move as that's 4x what he's making at Gonzaga, and makes him the highest paid coach in the country.
    • Certainly not going to miss his constant whiffs on sacks and tackles.
