Matt, Just Give Us Some Hope

Here we are, looking at a floundering Dolphins team as our opponents for this afternoon. They are desperate, wounded and their coach is playing for his job. And we, the fanbase are looking at this game with trepidation, a feeling of dread and the possibility that our team will underperform, again.

I don't like this feeling. I don't like being a game shy of .500 at this point in the year. I don't like not having that most important thing to a sports fan -- hope.

We lose to teams like the Dolphins now. It's apparently our thing. The Eagles, Vikings and Giants, all have coaches struggling with deep team problems and potential pink slips waiting at year's end. We don't do well against teams who are desperate. There are teams like those every season, fighting for their lives like cornered rats. Most of them collapse and they are just fodder for the wins column of better teams, steadier teams, teams on the rise.

Today, we need you Coach Rhule to prove that we aren't one of those teams ourselves. That this idea of building for the future is for real. That you can lead us to a better land, that we can beat the teams we're supposed to beat.

We need hope.

Right now. Right now because it doesn't look like we are anything. Right now because you brought back Superman. Right now because if we lose today there is no way we're having a winning season from here on out. Right now because, well, because we deserve better than this.

Beat the Dolphins. Grind it out. Win the game.  Don't get cute, don't get careful. Go in there and put the L in their column. Their guy is already on his way out, don't give their fanbase the hope that we need.

If we lose today, the Dolphins coach will still be out of a job by the end of the season. If we lose today Coach Rhule you may find yourself competing head to head with him again, in the job market.

Hope? Lasciate ogne speranza, voi ch'entrate should be engraved over every entrance into BOA.

Just kidding.

This game could go either way and that is cause for a little excitement. Hopefully the game is not boring, which it could end up being.

The more I see of Rhule, the less I think he's an NFL coach. That said, I wouldn't be surprised if the team wins today only to lose against Atlanta, Buffalo, and Tampa Bay after the bye.

In all honesty a loss today should put Rhule on the hot seat. I know he is most likely here another season, but a loss today would honestly make me really doubt his long term prospects in the NFL.

I cannot really argue with this.  He is def getting another year but to me it feels like a loss today puts a lot of weight on his shoulders going forward.  IMO we should be beating teams like Miami on the road at this point.

Definitely think Rhule is back for year 3, but yes losing games the way we have been will have him on the hot seat entering next year. Rhule inherited a mess from Hurney/Rivera. He and his guy Snow have made tremendous strides and improvements defensively, young talent all over for a chance at longterm success. However, he better realize that focus this offseason needs to be the Oline. Improve the Oline, resign Cam, and see what happens. Also, really need evaluate Joe Brady if he doesn't get a HC offer. Like most of his play designs, don't like his play calling. Point is, Rhule will be back, but he better fix the current problems or he want see year 4

Right now ....is when you need to play some Defense again,   Right now ....  take the dolphin by the fin

Right now... take us in a new direction, force a fumble , get an interception

Right now..... give Cam adequate protection  so he an Dj cam make that connection.

Right now... tell the online they need to block,

So chuba, Abdullah, and cmc can run the rock

Right now.... that all I got

    • I get it's subjective and I said "PFF rated him as" one of the top deep ball passers during that time, which is an accurate statement.  They are still a group of professionals that look at film and data in order to make their judgements/ratings.  These people whose data has been incorporated into a lot of teams' staffs view Bryce's deep throws as some of the best in the league during that stretch.  That tells me that he can probably throw a deep pass vs the Huddle's version of he is small and didn't do it his rookie year so he must not be able to.  That and literally seeing him do it just makes me feel he is more than capable of doing so.   Do you think PFF is skewing their opinion to prop up a QB in a bottom tier franchise?  It's just another group's opinion and I feel is pretty respected around the league currently.  It's not the gospel truth or anything.
    • I still remember how happy I was that gettlegut was not the GM once he picked Jones, that was a firing pick and well..... If not for the raiders drafting Clelin Ferrell, it was the biggest draft day mistake in the last 20 some years.
    • He had 251 passing yards. 3 passing touchdowns and 2 rushing touchdowns. All in all a very impressive game. Problem is I do not envision his rushing ability translating like that over the course of the upcoming season. Yeah it will be something to account for from time to time but one it's not sustainable and two you don't want to put his durability to the ultimate test against a motivated defender willing to take a penalty and a fine. And plus with our backfield. Two 1k yard rushers. That's what they're here for. Then we have a much improved WR room. That means Bryce has to elevate those passing numbers substantially. The fact of the matter is regardless of circumstances it did take him 23 games to surpass Kyle Allen's single season passing yardage from 13 games in 2020. And that is not a high bar by any means. Whatever QB tier Bryce ends up in from here amongst his peers this upcoming season when it's all said and done it will be with his arm.
