How does a team just keep getting worse and worse?

Rhule and the rest of his college buddies don't know what they're doing at the NFL level and neither does the guy signing their checks.

I'm not ready to give up on Tepper.

He doesn't seem to have a problem with spending what it takes to try and build a winner.

Yeah, it seems pretty certain he messed up this time with Rhule.

We all make mistakes, NFL owners aren't an exception.

The question is:  What's Tepper's next move to fix this mess?

Hopefully he hires an outside consultant ASAP to find the Panthers next HC.

I raised the question marks when we hired him. Like, wait a minute... this guy is something like 2-17 against ranked NCAA opposition. That seems problematic.

Honestly think I might just be done with this  team. It’s just a waste of time and sadly, hell, it won’t be here in 5 years anyway. Tepper and Rhule killed off the fanbase and the team will be in St Louis or San Diego soon enough. There’s no light at the end of the tunnel anymore. Respect to those who wanna stick around for more losing history. I’m out.

Team quit. Same thing happened my Freshman year at college. 3-0 to 3-9. You lose a game, then another, then injuries happen, then players don’t pan out, the you feel pressure and you’re in quick sand and you can’t get out. Then more you fight it the deeper you go. Then the players give up on you, don’t respect you. Only play at 75% speed. Then you get fired.

I feel like something is in the works other than this just being a bad coaching staff. The game plans have been vanilla, the players have given up. Maybe Matt Rhule is planning to head back to college. Some good openings coming up and he clearly doesn’t have an NFL future

Since when has “suck ass until you’re fired so you can take a coveted college HC spot” been a realistic career strategy?

He might not have the capability to be a good NFL head coach and just doesn’t give a sh*t. Probably has college teams inquiring about his availability already

This defense just got run over.  They could not stop or cover anything. And the offense.....

How do these guys just keep getting worse?

The only thing about this team that seems to have improved is the kicking game.  At least they finally found a pk.

To answer your question, it's called the coaching staff or should I say staph.

Simple answer..............

1) Take a bad O line........

2) Add injuries to that line.....

3) Replace with backups 2nd and 3rd stringers.......and/or practice squad players within that line......

and bingo............you go from bad to worse.............

God playing QB on this team couldn't win with this oline......

Any questions?

    • That might balance out because apparently the Texans O-line is ass. He did manage to throw for almost 300 yards the last two weeks though.
    • Don't forget that Rhule actually took Tepper's offer to the Giants and they balked. He was just seeking the big payday which should have been a red flag. I have no idea how much time Tepper spends within the Panthers building. I do know that he in the past has been too much involved. He supposedly held weekly meetings with Reich. Then after firing Reich Tepper he held a press conference where he did virtually all the talking and made it about himself. Before that Tepper went out of his way to bloviate to the press about how he spoke to Bryce Young months before the draft and directly told him he wanted him to be a Panther. Then he went to the well of his selling point about Bryce being a point guard and we wouldn't need to invest in elite weapons. The guy thinks and talks like he knows what he's doing. At the end of the day the franchise has been in the gutter in large part due to he and his wife's involvement. It is what it is. Appreciate the convo.
    • Unlike most of you, I do not assume the FO thinks he is beyond repair.  For the first time since 2017 the Panthers have a chance to be in the playoffs. One more game will tie them for the most wins since 2018, 2 more wins will put them at 8 wins - the most in 8 years.  Hate all you want but a big part of that success has come from Bryce. He got them in the hole with Miami but he got them out of it as well and was a big part of that win. Against Dallas, he played very well throughout the game plus he converted on a 4th down in the final minutes putting them in FG range for the win. He may not have had a good game against the Packers but he did convert on two 3rd down conversions in the final minutes to help seal the win and of course the Falcons game was his best yet. Tepper likes him and they have a huge investment in him as well. You don't just throw that away unless you have something concrete lined up behind him - which I just don't see.
