Move CMC to slot receiver in 2022

He won’t be nearly as a effective. People overrate just receiving skills cause he gets covered by LB the majority of time, when teams put nickel backs on him he gets shutdown.

I seriously think he needs to lose some muscle, dude is a naturally 200 pounds, but has ballooned up to 210 maybe 215. Put him at slot and take a major cut on his contract

Never happen. WR franchise tag is nearly twice that of a RB. WR salaries are far higher than RBs.

You are correct about coverage, though. He could routinely beat LBs, but nickel CBs will shut him down.

No true slot WR is getting paid more than Mccaffrey.

That's not what I said.

Top 5 salary average for a WR the last 5 seasons is almost $16M. If you tag a WR, whether he plays #1, 2 or slot makes no difference. Remember the TE a couple years ago when a TE tried to get WR franchise tag money because of the number of receptions he had?

Top 5 average salary for a RB the last 5 seasons is about $8.7M.

But op specifically said slot WR some I’m using that context. The fact is Mccaffrey will never see that type of money again playing slot, and it would be crazy to pay a slot WR 17 mill.

1. Trade him to whatever contender falls short this year.  KC, Buffalo, etc. would probably salivate at the idea of CMC in their offense

2. If a trade isn't possible, yupppp.  CMC needs to be a WR from here on out. A few rushes a game, but protect the investment you made.  If you can't get rid of the contract, you better maximize a way for him to stay on the field and earn it.

    • Watching games this year again and Bryce missed a wide open XL many times and some of them were in the endzone. I get the kid has mental lapses and hasn't broke out yet, but this is year three on a rookie deal! Cutting bait now is too early. If he hasn't gained anymore trust from his QB, posted any highlights, little production, or outright gets beat out then we can talk movement.
    • Samesies   I truly may just cash completely out of Panther football if we give him a long term deal that isnt necessary.  I have watched NFL for 50 years now and I can without a shadow of a doubt say you cannot win consistently with BY.  Way too many limitations to deal with.   I may come back around in 3 years when the inevitable happens and all parties are either cut and/or fired.  Giving him a deal before this season so you hopefully can get him cheaper in case he "blows up" or if you truly believe that he will has to be the most moronic decision a gm can make when the evidence is laid before you with different players
    • This is the one! I was at that game and all KB had to do was lay down on the corner after the pick or make an obvious tag while he was down. He had already ran a lazy route. Then if Cam would've just walked to the sideline like most elite QBs instead of trying to make the tackle.  A lot of people bring up the TJ Watt hit, but he just reaggravated a bunch of scar tissue from that play. And every Cam hater said that the running did him in and it was a dive tackle attempt on an interception that initially began the shoulder deterioration. He still went to New England later and would've got them in the playoffs had their A team not sat out the covid year. We quit on him too early. But hey how good was Teddy? Am I right?
