Sam is talked about as throw away garbage but he played well to start the season.  This atrocious OL caught up with him but no way I just discard him with no other options.  Keep him here with Cam and cut PJ who is obviously not a pro QB

Also, why is Matt Barkley here?  Mind boggling

The question of who to sign with our free agents may be answered for us. Some that we might want to keep may decide to move on to a team that had a winning record this year. Without changes to our coaching staff it may also be hard for us to attract free agents.

That's definitely possible. I was speaking from more of an ideal perspective, but that tweet Gilmore's wife put out of a few days ago about the CMC injury didn't seem encouraging regarding his retention.  I just don't know if we can keep both Reddick and Gilmore, if we do it will have to be done in conjunction with other cap saving moves because they will both want 15m if not more and that's before resigning anyone else, free agency and the draft.

In my fantasy?

Sam restructures because he is a guy that wants to succeed unlike guys that just want to collect a check. So he bets on himself like Reddick did this year.

Cmac restructures to help the team get olineman because he knows that the better they are the better he plays thus not only improving future earnings off the field but also cementing his legacy in pursuit of becoming the GOAT RB and getting that gold jacket to go with his two rings.

The 2 thirds come from the trade down and letting Djax walk. That's 2 thirds. Or a 2nd and a third if you think we can pull it.

Djax comp pick would be next draft 2023

What was her tweet?

I am not sure I agree that the roster is as bad as some of you think.  If Horne comes back healthy, the secondary should be ok.  The line backers and dline could use some tweaks, but the core is good enough to win games.  And our defense is young and should get better.

We need a qb, and some upgrades on the oline. Wont be easy of course, and I don't trust the coaching staff to do the assessments on the offensive side, but we are not desperate.

He has good value as a 2nd/3rd rounder experiment but he screams career backup to me.

We're going to be bad for the next couple of seasons assuming we fail to acquire Watson.

What's wrong? Phase one of our rebuild has failed. The first part of our rebuild was to create a top quality defense. We now have the core of our defense in place, and yet our defense can be completely run over and dominated. That means that the defensive rebuild has failed, and next season we'll still have the same core, and that means the defense will still be below average. You can't gut core without completely restating a multi-season rebuild, and if the core can't even stop the run, let alone the pass, then it's essentially over. We're toast.

What to do? We can't replace the core of the defense unless we totally reboot and let the current core walk or cut them. That won't happen. That means we have to replace non-core players with other non-core players on defense and hope somehow that works. We don't have the draft picks to add more core players to the defense in this draft, and spending our sole 1st round pick on the defense would be insane. Tinkering and the return of Horn have to produce a better defense, but we can't stop the run, and Horn won't change that.

Our offense is better than a few of the worst teams in the NFL, but that's about it. Spending our 1st round pick on a LT will not fix our offense. The core of the offense is already in place. We can add a potential core player on the o-line with the draft, but that won't be anywhere near enough to make the offense even average. Drafting a QB is a possibility, but that means more losing seasons as he learns how to play. Even then, he could be a bust.

This is unfixable and I warned of this happening. We NEVER should have started bringing in journeymen  veteran QBs. All they do is keep your team out of the top of the NFL draft, and thus you miss out on the top QB prospects. This is how you end up in QB limo, a state where you are not bad enough to draft the top QBs, but not good enough to make the playoffs. This is the last thing you want to happen because there is no end in sight. QB limbo can be maintained for multiple seasons and you end up with zero to show for it. Nothing. No star QB, no trophies, no great memories, nothing. You'll have trouble even remembering the last 3 seasons, or the next 3 seasons. Limbo. Pointless.

It doesn't help matters that our coaches are below average. That's bad, but a great QB can make them look good. Now it's over until with get new coaches, or a great QB.

    • Umm yeah. When did he get it done at the right time? I seem to remember a 4-6 finish and needing Atlanta to win our way into the playoffs but whatever.
    • I mean....no lies detected. See above. We have traded a fortune to draft a guy #1 overall that people have lowered standards for to the point that not playing like Jimmy Clausen and looking like a poor man's Kyle Allen occasionally is worthy of a contract extension making him one of the highest paid QB's in the league. That is cope on steroids.
    • summary: "let's talk about your draft, what did you think about Freeling" Dan:   guys with a huge upside, can come in and compete to start.  High ceiling "he does what for your offense?" Dan:   it's hard to find left tackles, guys that big and athletic.  We have Icky coming off an injury, we signed Walker, I believe your offensive line can never be too strong.  If we're going to win the game, it's gotta be up front on both sides of the ball, so we make a point of emphasis on making both sides of the front as strong as possible. "how many mocks did you see Monro falling to you." Not many times, left tackles are gonna go a lot earlier than when we took him.  We want to add the best player, in free agency or the draft"  that's our philosophy, to get the best players possible. "Hunter and Brazzell." Dan:  we followed the board.  Lee we felt very highly of him , super strong.  Brazzel so flexible and loose, can open the verticle.  Will Lee we held in high regard. "you take a look at your receiver room, Coker, my goodness, your offensive rookie of the year in Tet.  Lost Rico, but there is Jonathan Brooks. " Brooks coming off two knee injuries, he worked his way back, looking great, fully healthy, will help in pass and run game.  Icky, not sure when he's coming back but we're excited about both "plan on extending Bryce" we'll keep talking, will keep internally.  We believe in him, has such a great grasp of Canales and offense, has improved every year. "he's clearly come back from the benching, the arrow is trending up, where does he feel" Bryce knows where we stand with him, when and if a deal gets done, he knows we feel great with him, we'll get something done at the right time. "if this a prove it situation?" everyone in the building has to prove it, has to earn it. Tmac was everything we wanted, his work ethic, he's so big and talented, but he puts the work in, and is a great teammate. "your level of expectation, the building's level of expectation for 2026 "our goal is to win the division every year, we know we have to earn it.  we have to put the work in every day, proving it on the practice field, and our  guys know that." "schedule" we haven't opened at home in 2 or 3 years.  We love prime time games, hope we get some "
