Nope. No thank you. I prefer the movie.

Appropriate because I always think about "Measure of a Man" when I see videos like this.

I think making humanoid robots is incredibly creepy. I'm totally okay with the Boston Dynamics approach; making robots that look like machines and are designed to efficiently do a job that replaces human labor.

But when you make a robot that looks and acts human, well, there's no way around it; you're making a slave. You're creating a second class person who can do work you don't want to do. A person that is your property who you can command without them having the ability to refuse. The word "Robot" even comes from the Russian word for, "to work."

If we're doing this now, I think we should go ahead now and start developing the rights of non-human people. Because every SciFi story know we will have to do it anyway. So we might as well do it from the outset rather than after the robot revolution.

I immediately thought of this movie when I saw that clip

Image result for ex machina

I mean that is what folks like this are ultimately working towards.  See if they can make a robot indistiguishable from a human...to a human.

Doesn't seem like the best plan.

Honestly, I think a lot of this stuff is going to go into sex robots.

Jokes aside, we need to be careful in trying to recreate humanity.  I mean, besides all the sci-fi movies telling us what a bad idea that is, but what happens when our artificial friends decide we suck and need to die?  Skynet?

Now I am amazed at the possibilities that these articulated robots could do in exploration of space, deep oceans, and inhospitable environments.  Imagine being able to put them to work on a planet while humans control from a space ship above via VR or programed movements and AI detection and adaptability software.

This would be so cool!

    • Does it matter if he goes somewhere else and is good? He his not getting it done here and really thats what I care about.  I dont care about Darnold or CMC or Burns or Baker   Make this team better or GTFO
    • The problem when you draft a guy like Bryce the way you draft him with the trade up and assets spent is you cant afford for him to sit 2-3 years and develop. He has to be that guy now. We gave up too much for him to be what he is right now, and while that may not be fair, it is what it is. If we had stayed at 9 and drafted him there and he is this level of QB, we're out a 1st and while it stings, it's not crippling. But that's not what we did and it was crippling, not to mention, he wasn't even the QB our HC wanted. He didn't even fit Reich's system which hurt him even further.  But now its year 3 and QB contracts are obscene. We're at the point we have to decide if he's worth what he's going to be asking. Based on performance, are you paying a 5 year, 200 million contract with 140 guaranteed? I sure as hell hope not. Bryce needs to be able to elevate the guys around him and he's not doing that. His physical limitations are clear, his field vision is spotty, his decision making is questionable and his ability to hold under pressure. Well, we saw that Sunday.  Maybe he's good somewhere else, but where we find ourselves right now, staring down the barrel of year 3 with a 5th year option or contract extension on the horizon, we don't have the luxury to wait another season and hope. If he doesn't get it together in a big damn hurry he needs to be out the door.
