The guy who had final say on that roster turnover was Matt Rhule.

Sure.  I dont think there were a huge amount of mistakes though.  He inherited an old team at the very start of a rebuild.  Hes definitely made mistakes for sure but it can take time to learn how to be a head coach in the NFL I would imagine.

Building an offensive line around "versatility" was a massive mistake.

I jus don’t understand the power running comment. No back we have is a power runner. This team is lost.

Lol, I didn't catch that. Lol. What foolishness.

The power run game is built in the off-season.

They don't have the staff to accomplish power running in the NFL.

Clueless.

The writing was on the wall for Brady .  When Rhule stated that we were going to be a run first team and Brady did not get the message , he was in trouble .  During the press conference Rhule stated that he would evaluate the players and coaches .  Brady was sent packing .  We will see if this makes a difference or not .  Fitts will be looking for a new OC and perhaps a new head coach if the team does not start to look improved .

I think I misread, the quote was a “heavy running game” meaning run the ball a lot. Not necessarily up the middle 30 times.

Don’t think the hire is Fitts call

Exactly right. Should've been done after the Miami game, giving the next OC 2 weeks to implement their scheme in.

I doubt they will be able to make wholesale changes over what these guys have been working on for months. Most likely, you'll see the same plays, but with a heavier run/pass balance. Run, Run, Pass, Punt.

Edit to add: against a team like TB, who is great against the run, that's... not a great plan.

    • I don’t remember Mills from the USFL days just when he was in NO.  But when you saw Smitty it screamed oh yeah, this guy has something. Immediately. So, have not seen anything that dramatic with Young. All I know about him says he is solid with his character and smarts and don’t see a lot of that translating into screaming he really has something. I think the people that say he could possibly acceptably run an offense designed around him, with top flight talent in support, are probably about right. But I can’t see any Pro Bowls or lofty accomplishments in my crystal ball.
    • I thought I read they’d still be there but as a backup in case of malfunction.  So it’s not so much a goodbye as it is they’re being sidelined (I’ll see myself out)
    • Their forecheck is relentless because they are so physical and heavy.  It’s just a perfect mashup for how they play. Florida before Paul Marice played just like us. Speed but with finesse.  Paul made them but into playing heavy. They went and got players that added to that style he wants and it works.  Plus they have the best goalie in the league.  That helps more than anything. The canes have got let Koochie be their guy he will never become the star that most think he will if rod keeps sticking with vets that flame out.    1. Koochie or a Soros type player  2. Switch to zone defense  3. Get heavier.    like I said, I love Rod. Best pro coach ever in the Carolinas sports buy he is holding us back with his philosophy and style.  He is the reason.  He can change all of that with decisions.
