Should We Fire Matt Rhule?

There are NFL coaches that need 3 years to get talented players and build a culture and scheme that fits the personnel.  They need 3 years plus.  Then there are non-NFL coaches who have a talented roster but ruin opportunities and seasons with terrible scheme and misuse of personnel.  They need to go and go quickly.  Rhule is the latter.

I look at it like this. Ron Rivera had Cam and Luke when we went to the Superbowl and I feel like better coaching, preparation and in game adjustments could have got us the win. Do I think Matt Rhule has the traits to get us the win in the same situation? No I don't.

It's laughable you think Rhule could have even gotten that team and that talent to a super bowl.

Already posted elsewhere by @Cookie Lyon but relevant here...

I mean, if players are really talking about him like this... 😳

Worth remembering theres a lot of friendships between these two rosters.

Posted it in a thread a couple weeks ago, but a friend of mine was watching a game at a party where Kuechly and other former Panthers were.  Luke & Bersin (yes, Bersin) were both yelling "F that guy" at the TV about Rhule.  I don't think he has many allies in the NFL, and there's a method to him loading up on Temple/Baylor guys who've bought into his BS already. He can't win over a pro locker room, can't win over former players, and we're never going to attract or retain anyone of worth here who doesn't have a connection to Rhule from college.

I know it's a bad time of year, but seriously, we need to go ahead and tell Rhule he won't be back so we can at least interview some actual NFL coaches early.  I don't even need his firing to be immediate, I just need us to let him know and start the process of finding a real coach.

This is what I expect to happen on Black Monday.

Hello everybody from a long-time Panther- Fan from Germany.

This is my first post...sorry for my bad english.

Firing Rhule?

Of course,  natural!!

Why wait? Waiting for what? A miracle?

Can't wait to see "my" team to play a game here in Germany.

But please, please with another HC at the sideline.

We need to get a real NFL Coach and Rhule isn't it.

Up until a few weeks ago, I was all for being patient for his third year. The facelift on defense and securing WR/RB and potentially TE of the future, along with Moton in years one and two made me believe that one more offseason to dig in hard on OL would be the difference.

Nope.

His pressers are becoming unwatchable and if we as fans can see through the BS, no way the players, front office and our Owner doesn't.

Bye.

Still on the wait and see path.

Nothing from yesterdays game made the case for firing any stronger (it probably makes it weaker). IMO the team played hard and overall looked better than the previous week; Penalties were down and they didn't turn the ball over until the game was already decided.

    • You're assuming just as well.   Morgan and Canales were hired 3 days apart.  I believe it was partially due to their connections in Seattle.  i believe Tepper wanted some familiarity with his GM and HC.  It is so easy to sit back and arm-chair QB over draft picks.  You don't know what the philosophy was going into the 2024 draft.  I believe Canales and Morgan were drafting for the future.  XL and Brooks point to that philosophy. Name me one GM that is 100% on draft picks.  Just one.  You're not going to find one.    I think year one picks weren't for what can you do for me now but Potential.   XL hasn't lived up to the hype of a 1st rounder.  I think we all can agree on that. However, there still is hope he comes around.  What I believe they saw in him was his speed after the catch.  He needs to get more consistent but when he gets the ball you kind of hold your breath just a second because if he gets free, he's gone.  The Brooks pick was a signing for the future, and no one could have guessed he would re-injure the same ACL.  This makes the pick look bad but Dallas was ready to draft him later that same round.  IMO we'll have to see what happens next season before we can call this a bust. Wallace has improved each season and for a third rounder has done well.  Sanders has shown flashes and considering the pick in the 4th round it wasn't a bad pick.  His sophomore season IMO was a little bit more productive.  Smith-Wade has been a good addition and has played well.  For a 5th round pick to get as much playing time as he has.  Most picks below round 3 should take a couple of years to get up to speed.  He's been a decent player.  Crumedy, no comment We turned Barrett into Jackson.  This was an amazing move and basically got a starting CB for a 7th round pick.  Pretty shrewd if you ask me. Coker, maybe the best Free Agent signing of the 2024 draft class. So, in short, you can't say that the draft was a bust.  It isn't a home run but all but one are still on the team and outside of Brooks have made contributions to wins.  2025 draft class has been much better with almost every pick making contributions this season.  Now take Fitterer's two years and compare them to Morgan and tell me that they have the same philosophy.
    • He hasn’t led crap, he’s on loaded teams and a piece of the puzzle. And he’s he has improved drastically but it took the ultimate QB whispers in Shanahan and KOC. You put him on this Panther team and he’s back to normal Darnold
    • Slavin and Jarvis week to week. Florida cheap shots took out our two best players.  I’d start KK so he can beat the brakes off someone.
