Sam Darnold can’t throw the ball past the line of scrimmage.

The biggest problem is Tepper IMO

he hired the coach because the coach reminded Tepper of himself. A sloppy pot belly guy who has crumbs and mustard stains on his shirt.

this coach then thinks he’s good enough to fix Darnold.

Darnold has every physical tool needed to succeed. Big arm, can move, size etc. but the guy can’t process the game. He’s in fear mode as soon as the ball is snapped.

This franchise is being run into the ground

Which is a damn shame, too.

If he had his head screwed on right, he might've made a decent career as, at least, a Backup in the league.

But at this rate, the 18 mil is going to be the last big payday in this league he'll ever get and I would not be surprised to see him out of the league after next season.

'Cause let's be honest here :  Who the hell out there (Not named Rhule) would be stupid enough to believe they can "Fix" Sam Darnold?

Sam is just a Clausen with more physical talent. Fug him and the people who brought him here, all of them.

Dang. Well, at least you can't hear Darnold screaming for his life every time the line gives way. Of course, he might not have enough time to.

If your line can't hold up for 2.5 seconds, then you are going to have problems.

If your plays take more than 2.5 seconds to get an open receiver, then you are going to have problems.

If your QB's processing of targets and threats takes more than 2.5 seconds, then you are going to have problems.

If your coach, deep in a 5-12 season says the process is working 100%, then you are going to have problems.

To misquote Jay-Z: We've got 99 problems and our coach is more than one.

Hahaha. I don't know what I find funnier, this crew passing up a QB in the draft for Darnold or this crew picking another Darnold in the draft. We are fugged lol

Ok I’m not bringing this thread up to dump on anyone in particular, just thought it was interesting. There have been issues pushing the ball downfield for so many years spanning Bridgewater, Mayfield, Darnold, Young, etc. as well as multiple coaches. We seem to finally be heading in a more balanced direction, but I think the QBs have proven at this point that they weren’t the problem, or at least the biggest reason.

lol @ bumping this thread thinking it's some kind of gotcha.

Nobody ever doubted Darnold's physical abilities as a passer.

Legitimately that throw that Sam Darnold made from his own end zone at the end of the game against the Vikings to Ian Thomas of all people is as good or better than any throw Bryce Young has made in his career so far.

Also. For all the criticism of Teddy Bridgewater being a checkdown king and rarely throwing downfield he was 15th in yards per attempt the one season he played here.

Compare that to Bryce who just finished the season 30th in yards per attempt.

You're going to rile some people up with this one lol. I agree with you, Bryce is nowhere near the physical talent Sam and Baker are with muscling a ball when it needs to be done, but he has shown over and over and over he can throw downfield.

And he does seem to learn from his mistakes and deals better with crunch time pressure.

Not sure if he will ever be elite, but the number of elite qb's is so small, that the odds of getting one are very slim.  We are going to give Young at least one more year to see if he is good enough to help the team become a contender.  As we should.
