I have a question

Their idea of addressing the oline was signing two discarded backups on the first day of free agency who were two of the worst linemen in the league. They cared so much about the oline and the health of their quarterbacks they went all in on their secondary instead. I simply do not understand how anyone can take them at face value now. This should have happened last year. In truth it should have began in 2020. They get no pat on the back for singing this song now.

I was speculating as to what they were thinking based on a few crumbs of evidence--not endorsing their moves.  I hated the signings because it was Fits' first day in free agency and he signs 2 busts.

But I see your point.  Taking them at face value when they try to sugar coat dogshit is not wise.

The other part that does not seem to be getting addressed is that there was nothing done on offense to keep opposing defenses honest.   All year they stacked up and dared us to beat them throwing and our play calling could not seem to get any of our receivers open.  They talent is there, but the schemes sucked. Everyone knew what we were running and sat on our routes, which made the offensive line look worse.  We need an OC that understands how to design a game plan and how to adjust when the defense makes their adjustments.  We have not had any of that under Rhule as is evidenced by the terrible 3rd quarter offensive output.  1st drive of each game we did well.  Defense adjust and we suck the rest of the game.

Yeah no poo it's almost like we should have done more early on before we reached desperation mode when it was clearly too late.

they signed two lineman to cheap deals in attempt to bridge it during an offseason we didnt have much cap space.  It didnt work. Luckily, they didnt put themselves in a situation where they are eating up cap and holding us back from signing some real talent this offseason. It was  a short term plan with little long term impact.

I quoted you by mistake so that's my flub. I just can't get on-board with singing anyone's praises after they've already made a giant mess and many of us saw the risks. I hope they truly learned and address this properly but they haven't earned the benefit of the doubt yet and they must drop this versatility mantra.

So now...everyone (Panther staff) says we need to build the oline. Fitt says you build a team with the oline and dline.  What the heck were they doing last year?  Why did they just wake up and have this revelation?  Teddy was sacked a bunch. And why do you think he had all those short throwS?. Had to get the ball out quick. Anytime it was crunch time the oline crumbled. Then they went out and got a QB who was considered a failure who had played behind a terrible oline.  They did the same thing to him.  This just baffles me. Now they say it is important????

Blame deflection.

Yes, I was simply trying to justify their rationale and why the OL sucks--what they might have been thinking--def not buying their snake oil sales pitch!

having a poor offensive line for a season is unfortunate but isn’t going to cost you your job

You can easily pass off a number of excuses to your boss

”well it was a rebuild”

”in the salary cap era it’s really hard for teams to field 22 great players”

“The Horn injury makes everything look worse”

but the kind of colossal and costly misjudgments they’ve made at the QB position can’t be excused or hidden or explained away, and in the NFL, you don’t usually get to make that mistake twice

“We signed two guys and it just didn’t work out”

Damage control from last years mess and mistakes.

It wouldn't matter because Sam is worse with time in the pocket. Even if they can vastly improve the Oline, which is in doubt, it's not fixing Sam. It was a terrible trade and a terrible idea to pick up the 5th year option. It's just more salesman BS. One just sounds better.

You can't rationalize with internet mobs. They never listen nor take the time to think things through. They just ride the wave but I do appreciate your efforts.

The problem is that short term plan that went up in flames was paired with giving up three draft picks and nearly 19 million guaranteed to a gamble at quarterback that has looked the same or worse as he did with the Jets. If we still had those picks and cap space you would see less objection.

Going after "versatility" because that's what Matt Rhule values in offensive linemen.

That plus long arms 😕

    • Dalton could have won 5 games before his body gave out. Young won 2. They could have taken the division with Stroud. The only future worth talking about is who they draft in the top 5 next year. Young's future is a deadend in the NFL.
