Has plenty of experience but didn't seem to excel in any of it.  But, judging from his lack of ability to stay anywhere for too long, he shouldn't be too out of his depths here once this staff is canned in December.

By all accounts it seemed he was given a cushy Gators job/pseudo retired the last 2 years. Rhule is digging up some NFL grave sites.

We didn't hire him because he took a good profile pic. We didn't hire him to get the early bird senior discount special at Golden Corral. We hired him to coach the defensive line.

Sheesh, let's hope he can do it. Last guy couldn't, and that was supposed to be one of our strengths. This guy looks like if he got down into a D-line four point stance he's not getting back up from it. We may not have any linemen with their hand in the dirt this season.

Or he could be that old guy that goes out there and shows people how men play the game. That would be awesome.

I mean, who else is going to come here.

Only oddity is the ST coach opting to come here.

He basically retired when he left the Lions so this is odd. Rhule is definitely down to everyones spare parts assembling this random coaching staff. No rhyme or reason to any of it really

    • I wonder if they'd consider trading Rasheed Walker to a team that needs tackle help but missed out in the draft?
    • LOL. This is such a Panthers fan take.  Anyone who falls to us must suck because some other team didn't take them before.  We got lucky with Lemon, Thieneman, and Freeling all falling to us (honestly any of the three is a A+) but the WR and S positions are much deeper than the LT position in this draft.  We got the LT w/ the most upside at 19.  Mauigoa played RT in college and some think he is a guard in the nfl.  Spano played RT in college and some think he is a guard in the NFL due to short arms.  Blake Miller played RT in college and is not as good as Freeling.  Proctor is a true LT but his ability to handle quick edge's worries me (see Icky).  Freeling is a true LT and a gifted pass protector.  Many think he has a very high ceiling and will benefit from not having to start right away.  This is how you build a franchise.
    • After watching Cam get killed for years behind a bad Oline and having to watch the 2021 and 2023 Olines I will never complain about this team putting resources into that spot.  We got a true LT who could really push Rasheed Walker for the day 1 job. Go back and watch Iceky's draft profile from 2022 and all the talk was Ickey would be an all-pro guard in a zone blocking scheme, but he could play LT in a gap power run scheme. That's why Ickey looked really good when Wilks took over and we just started running gap run plays and just mauled people up front but under Canales we've been more of a zone running team. Ickey can survive at LT with his pass blocking but his true strength will always be his ability to just move guys in the run game and that's a skill set that's better used at guard.  Take another OT later on day 3 to learn from Moton to take over RT in a couple of years and let Walker and Freeling battle it out for the day 1 LT job then next offseason trade one of Hunt of Lewis and let Ickey move inside to guard.
