Is he better than Cross, though?

IDK, I am just learning about the prospects. Not really trying hard again this year. His stuff from the senior bowl was solid with a lot of upside as a LT and looked ok at RG. Played mean and it stood out every snap.

If the team is going to reach for an LT at #6 (which isn't THAT bad of an idea) I'd go with Bernhard Raimann from Central Michigan.  The guy is a house at 6-7 and is getting better and better at LT after only 2 years playing the position.  The upside is definitely there.

But I'd only take him if all of Cross  / Neal  /  Ekwonu  were already gone.   Any of those three would supersede Raimann.

Also I think Cross is actually the best pass protector of the entire bunch.  So I'd be thrilled if he dropped to us.

Please link non power 5 conference OL first round picks who are worth a poo in NFL

LOL. Where you played matters way less than your abilities. By that logic, Howell is undraftable because UNC has never had a successful QB.

Non-P5 OL are less common in the first round(true for all positions) but that's because there is a big talent disparity in the average P5 player and the average non-P5. As a group that makes sense, but you don't grade prospects as a group.

Is Patrick Mahomes a bad QB? Because prior to him Texas Tech QB's were regarded as gimmick guys that piled up stats in a one read offense. However he is/was otherworldly talented.

There are plenty of small school players in the HOF, including our recently inducted Sam Mills.

Would I take Penning at 6? Probably not. Would I be upset if we had him on on our roster. Absolutely not.

    • But that would run counter to a lot of basic logic.  Frank Reich largely had an ideal QB he had worked with…and Reich world people were beating that drum loudly during the draft process that CJ Stroud fit what Frank would want/need.  And reporting also was signaling there was a split in house and Tepper wanted Young. We ended up with Young.
    • There's more to coaching than play calling, even down on the field. Madden isn't going to simulate how your WR1 had a big fight with his wife the night before the game and is stiff from sleeping on the couch. It's not going to simulate that the fight was because the QB's wife was flirting with the WR and now, because she went full on ballistic that the QB now knows about it. It's not going to simulate that questionable bucket of wings your o-line shared three hours before the game is now causing cramps and gas. It's also not going to simulate the real wear and tear of the season and how about December even the moderately good teams are about halfway spending their brain power on picking their January vacation destinations. But for a video game, it's pretty good.
    • Last Madden I played was 17, got this for like 10-12 bucks a few months ago and its a great improvement imo. I havent had to touch the sliders much.
