Rhule needs a Mac Jones-type who can look halfway decent immediately, and Pickett’s the only quarterback in the draft remotely in that category.

I was a fan of trying to trade back a few and picking up Jones or Slater. Jones isn't the most athletic, but he's better than average, which is better than what we've had in 3 years.

Jones would not have had success with the Panthers last season like he did with NE.  Our leaky OL would have exposed his lack of athleticism.  But him on the roster with fixing the OL this draft would have worked.   We'd then have all the pieces for a decent offense.

I agree but I don't think tepper has lost any money on the Panthers.  Plenty of network money and other sales keep coming in.

Not to mention ~62,000 season-tickets/seats for which PSL owners ante up for in advance every season, year-in, year-out, for decades...

...regardless of what the the on-field product looks like.

That is a fact.  I almost was one of them.  Had to raise 2 grandkids about that time so I couldn't lay the cash down.

PSL owners are trapped. There is no resale value to them anymore. Owners are stuck with a bad investment. They try to sell, who is going to buy them? How low would they have to sell them to actually get a buyer?

They are stuck and have no choice but to hold on and wait until there are better days. My condolences to the whole lot of you.

I get Tepper wants to run his own show but I’m still surprised he didn’t bring on at least one guy that is NFL savvy to ease his transition into ownership and hiring the right people.

It didn’t even need to be a full time hire or committee. Just a guide, NFL shaman

Jones would've looked like Jimmy Clausen if he played for the Panthers last year.

    • well i could go on & on but i will just highlight it by saying big difference trust me from the SEC & NFL.it's honestly like comparing apples & oranges especially when you are talking about a  LT. in the NFL you are going up against the most athletic freaks of nature the world has to offer . .the NFL also has much more exotic & complicated defensive schemes than what they are used to seeing at Georgis &  finally but most importantly you have to learn how to master complex bio mechanics where the body kick steps instantly as a reaction to these world class athletes rush without really making a conscious effort it's more of a learned muscle memory  & it can take thousands upon thousands of reps to master rproper technique for a LT in the NFL especially if you are still very raw like Monroe Freeling is    ...just saying
    • All that being the case or maybe being the case, we do not know Wharton’s timetable n the first place. They are being coy about it. Or maybe not. They say week to week the board says he is terminal lol and must be replaced. Who knows? It may or may not warrant a fairly drastic solution.  Walker is a bargain and we are not well stocked at OL despite recent investments. Freeling has yet to have a single padded practice. Too much speculation driving this plan IMO.
    • I would really love to know who’s actually making these moves because it’s weirdly vague who’s doing the hiring and firing.
