QB prospect accuracy

With all of the QB pro days it’s easy to get caught up with who is throwing the ball the furthest or the most completions in shorts and t-shirts so it might be nice to have some actual game time stats to compare these guys with.

We like to talk about elite traits but at the end of the day actually giving your WR a chance to catch the ball might be the most important trait.

Same stat but for 15+ yards since 2019

This doesn’t guarantee Pickett will be good or that Willis will bust but it’s interesting none the less.

Now let's have a look at Pickett's other seasons. You know, when he was barely even mediocre.

With Jamie Newman now gone, Pickett is in the conversation for the most accurate quarterback in the ACC, as his uncatchable-throw rate on passes thrown past the line of scrimmage was first in the ACC in 2019. His performance under pressure was exceptional this past year, too, as he converted pressure to sacks at the third-lowest rate in the Power 5 while earning a 27th-ranked passing grade under pressure. That said, Pickett failed to crack the top 100 when it came to big-time throw total, so he'll want to change that in 2020.”

Sounds like he was accurate and avoided sacks, but also avoided big time throws in 2019.

My boy Carson Strong did THAT and 4186yds 36tds 70%completion on one leg.

All the hype goes to the other lesser QBs though.

It's all good.

On average, accuracy is one of the traits that translates the best to the NFL.

historically yes

Josh Allen has been a bit of an exception, also If I remember some of Herberts accuracy metrics were not the best coming out.  The NFL tends to be a bit of copy cat league, I really think Josh Allen's success helped someone like Trey Lance get drafted as high as we did.   All of a sudden it is in vogue to take the toolsy guy and hope he can improve his accuracy.  That same thought process will probably get Willis drafted a lot higher than he would have in the past.

    • Nobody on the huddle is saying we have an elite group offensively across the board. They aren't great. They're young. If you are expecting someone to agree with your position of blaming everyone around Bryce Young nearly three full seasons into his career you are going to be left holding the bag save for a handful of people who act like they are paid to defend his honor. Bryce Young is not a guy who has had to claw and fight his way into starting jobs in football. He's had the best to work with and been gifted roles since he was a teenager. The Panthers have one of the youngest rosters in the league and with us needing an infusion of young defensive talent in the upcoming draft we're only going to get younger. We need a QB who possesses the ability to elevate those around him. If you can't agree with me on that then there's nothing further to discuss.
    • All Bryce and the Panthers had to do was split with the Saints and a rookie QB. The bar was so low. They even had a whole bye week to prepare. The time for singing kumbaya was before that game. Anyone still talking about Bryce earning a second contract 43 games into his career is living a fantasy. He might get one from the Tepper owned Panthers but he's damn sure not earned it.
