Considering Tepper has spent $170M of his own money on construction so far, I think it would be naive to suggest he's going to walk away. Regardless how much money he has, a $170M white elephant in the middle of nowhere will get you the reputation of a Trumpian real estate guy: build, default, bankrupt.

👆☝️👍👊

Anybody & @kungfoodude both nailed it...

...Rock Hill & Co are simply being taught a lesson in Negotiations 101 by a Grand Master in the discipline...

...it will all work out.

Let it be known all the hand wringing, fretting, and gnashing of teeth, can now safely be redirected toward seriously hating on Rhule/billionaires/Silver Platter Sam/etc...

...take your pick 🤙

[or alternatively sucking the dick of ambulance chasing con-men yankee lawyers 😂]

Staying silent is a classic sales technique. Wait for the other guy to get uncomfortable and talk themselves into a better deal for you.

Tepper needs to stop trying to leech off of SC taxpayers and build his Panthers HQ with his own money.  Dave's worth somewhere north of 16 billion.

It's hilarious that this deal with Rock Hill SC blew up in his face.  Let's not kid ourselves.  If Tepper had pulled this off, his next move would have been to play NC against SC for a new domed stadium.  That would have resulted in billions in construction costs being shifted on to the backs of hard working Carolina tax payers.

Tepper is more than capable of paying for his team's wish list of construction projects without draining local government coffers of tax dollars better spent elsewhere.

You don't become a billionaire by paying for things yourself.

Do you guys really think Tepper is just going to let 170 Million rot away and sit? He is smarter than that. What else could this place become if not the Panthers HQ? Sports complex for the public? Wouldnt Rock Hill have to pay Tepper for that?

What goes up, can come down, especially if the steel frame is bolted. Save what you can and sell the property to developers. He has already done the long/hard work of site prep and infrastructure.

maybe he loses 100mil. That’s chump change that he would make back in dividends in few months, or simple trade in the market. Remember he bought a 40mil mansion just to tear it down as a FU to an old boss that screwed him.

170 million is around 1% of his net worth. to put that into consideration, tons of people on this board are probably spending 15-20% of their net worth annually on an oversized truck they have no need for (that was purchased because they're insecure and decided to buy a personality) and would HAPPILY walk away from if they could.

sunk cost is a thing too

Tepper should just make the tickets free…

…it’s not fair to make poor people pay to attend an NFL game 🤦‍♂️

Nobody's saying that, but he doesn't need taxpayers--poor or otherwise--to pay a dime for the construction of his headquarters. Oh, that's right, why should he dig deeper into his pockets when he can just dig into everyone else's to help bankroll his business?🙄

100% agree.

Tepper has zero ability to "dig into" anyone's pocket other than his own...

...the duly elected local officials in Rock Hill are the folks who did the digging (or said they would anyway 😂).

Keep this situation in mind when you're in the voting booth later this year and in case you've forgotten:

> City Councilman James "Smuggie" Mitchell said YES to giving Charloot tax-payor funds to Jerry Richardson for stadium renovations.

>Governor Pat McCrory said NO to Richardson when he tried to dip into the till of the State of NC.

Both are on the ballot this year...

...vote wisely 👊

Something that the "Tepper isn't going to just suddenly start making bad business deals" crew conveniently forgets. Tepper is petty as fug and he's willing to lose on the financial side if it satisfies his pettiness.

Do you have an example of this?

    • Just as we won those close games we could have just as easily lost them. So the jury is out on if we were more lucky than good ( see the sweep by the saints) Were moving forward on paper. And how badly dont we all want to see us back to at least Above average form. Its about time.
    • If you're looking for a pat on the back it sounds good in theory until you realize they also had the 2023 Panthers as the top draft class.
    • Going into the 2003 and 2015 seasons we were supposed to be the joke of the league each time. In 2003, John Fox was supposed to still be in rebuild mode. We had a guy named Peppers on the defensive line who was supposed to be pretty good. We had Rodney Peete as our starting QB and a line that was a lot of hope and not much experience. Our new running back was a guy the Redskins, errrr Commanders, had jettisoned for being too old. We had a good kicker and writers thought that was needed because there were going to be more field goals than touch downs. Heck, it looked like they were right up until just before halftime of that first game when we had to yank Rodney Peete and put in some Cajun duded whose name couldn't be pronounced. And Steve Smith? He wasn't Smitty yet. Moose Muhammad, well, he was close to being written off as a bust. You know how that turned out. And then in 2015, we had Cam Newton, who was electrifying to watch but hadn't really won anything yet. There was an offensive line in front of him that looked like it was made in a defunct Swiss cheese factory and our big hope on offense was the great Kelvin Benjamin. And then he got taken out for the year with a knee injury in training camp. Ted "Feet of Lightning, Hands of Stone" Ginn became our default go to guy beside our next best hope, yeah, Devin Funchess. Our defense was pretty good, a scrappy bunch with frikkin' awesome linebacker play and a cornerback who had done more than drank the Kool-Aid, but had snorted the powder. He played like a superhero and became sort of a bat-man during the season. By the Super Bowl he had completely lost his freaking mind, though, and managed to talk his way out of a contract with the team next year. No one was expecting us to win the NFCSouth that season, much less almost go undefeated and into the Super Bowl. So, 2026? Who knows? But our best seasons came when no one had a reason to believe in us, except us.
