Draft is 2 Weeks Out/Predictions Thread

Well, they do suck, and I'm not going to say that this hasn't affected my relative disinterest to the draft lead-up, but I've had so many other things to concern myself with this off-season. Truth be told, I'm kinda glad that I haven't been all into it with baited breath because the waiting can drive you crazy.

As always, I'll accept what comes, but I'm hoping for a trade down and Corral.

I don't predict a damn thing but a good player in the draft.

Evan Neal at 6...Huddle rejoices

Well, except for those Huddlers that complain about everything

Oh man would I love Neal.  My wishlist as it stands:

1. Neal/Cross/Icky

2. Trade Down

3. Garrett Wilson

3. Willis/Pickett

I think a trade down positions us for Pickett if he drops to the spot, which these guys will do.  Not that I want him, but can totally see it.

The trade prediction is with BAL if Thibodaux (or Walker) is available at 6.  They're reportedly very interested in Thib and a lot of Ravens nation mocks trade ups to our range.  Should note they have 4th rounders.  I mean, talk about ammo.  Could even see them trade for Sauce (CB being a huge need and they always ID the top ones)

We get something like Pick 14, 45, & 110.  That positions us very nicely and we stay at the top of the draft.

So, the draft is two weeks away and I've honestly never seen this place care less haha.  But to the point of the thread, I ask of you 2 predictions:

What do we do at pick 6?

Who do we end up with at QB for 2022?

#FireRhule

We trade pick 6 and move back a few spots, while picking up a 2nd. We go best DE at 10ish, and best LG in the 2nd.

Minshew will be our QB this year.

I've read Pitt is in love with Willis, so my prediction.

Trade back with the steelers, and we draft Penning or Ridder/Corral/Howell.

Predicted starter to open the year: Darnold.

I think 20 just drops us too far where we don't get assurance if our top-12 big board guys are still there.

We'd be in our second block on our draft charts.  They want to still land a guy in the top blocks with a trade down.

This is the way.  Trade back.  Draft Pennington and Corral.  Darnold starts the opener but later this season, Corral takes over.

I think the Panthers are going to either take that tackle or edge rusher (since there are 6 elite players, one will be there) or they are trading back to the middle of the draft and taking Corral.

So I will say with precise uncertainty:

#6 Neal

OR

#15 or so: Corral and then Zion Johnson (G/C from BC) in round 2.   Corral has the quick release and is accurate.  He is a good athlete and can run the RPO.  Good fit in this offense.

    • This is gonna be longest six weeks ever
    • This 1000%.  Hey who wants to sign with the guy that couldn't even get his client the guaranteed contract of a 3rd round pick?  Lmao
    • I don't think it's any weird or unique clause, it's the offset language, same thing so many contract disputes are over. It just means that including it, if a player is cut and then signed by another team, the original team would be able to subtract how much they're getting paid by the new team from what they still owe him on their guaranteed money. For example, it's why Russell Wilson signed for the minimum last year with the Steelers as that was included in his Denver contract.  So if he signed with the Steelers for $1 million, he'd get $1 million less from the Broncos, if it was $2 million, he'd get $2 million less, basically he couldn't make any more money than he was already going to make, so you sign for the minimum to not take unnecessary cap room from your new team while giving extra cap room to your old one. The problem with trying to include it in rookie deals is that a team trying to include it, it says they think they don't really believe the player will make it 4 years with the team before they cut them.  And this usually comes up with one or two rookies in most seasons, the difference is it's usually handled much more quietly and not as public and ugly as this one. The other difference is that it's happening with the Bengals, which I believe I saw are one of the few (or only?) team that doesn't have protections for rookies in rookie and mini camps to be able to participate even if they haven't signed their contract yet.  The other teams have injury protections that allow them to still play, but the Bengals do not, which is also why this one is so public and ugly, as most the time this happens, the rookie is still participating in the rookie and subsequent mini camps, giving them more time to get the contract done before training camp when they'd then hold out.
