Watson's people expecting a full season suspension

Has a starting caliber QB ever come back after 2 years of not playing a snap to perform at a high level?

Vick wasn't terrible after he came back, and you've got to think Watson was able to train better in his 2 years away from the game than Vick could while in jail.

Plus Watson was younger and better than Vick was when he missed time, so it seems like a decent comparison.

I'm coming back around to "Play the guy you traded for, and if he sucks, play the guy you traded up to draft" mentality. The coaches need to own the situation they put themselves in.

I have been on that train since they traded for Sam but I know they will do anything to change it up again. It is the easy way and Tepper doesn't know jack and will let it happen.

Sucks it's primarily on Teppers ego to not admit that he just fuged up with the initial coaching hire. Took no time to fire the Soccer coach though. Don't get it

To recap, the Browns are out a first round pick for three years, a couple of assorted other picks, and burned the bridge with their starting QB (whether you like him or not), in exchange for the possibility that Watson someday may play for them.....maybe......assuming there are not even more allegations.  And the list stops there assuming they can/would void his contract and save themselves most of the cash.

To think we had people calling anybody who didn't want the Panthers all in on this fiasco idiots.

When you say it like that, it tastes like delicious cake.

It may affect it in some way (impacting the Browns negotiating position, for example) but in the end I don't believe there's any possibility he stays in Cleveland.

I'm pretty sure both parties are well aware that he isn't playing another down for them.

    • In May of 2026, it looks like a challenging schedule...and it probably is.  I rarely listen to the "strength of schedule" conversations that light up social media this time of year. Each year teams improve and decline. I think there's chunks of the year we need to take care of business and the week 5 bye is not desired.  I do think if we don't hit the bye week at 3-1, it's going to be a major uphill battle given the schedule in front of us. This season falls on three people, regardless of schedule strength: Canales, Bryce, Evero.  Canales: Finally can truly coach all aspects of the team and not focus with gameday prep for OC duties anymore. He drives the bus and needs to get these guys in position to win each week. There's no way vets come in and put it on the line every week to watch our QB sh!t the bed (See: SF game last year). Bryce: Despite everyone's obsession with thinking Bryce is a guaranteed extension, I think this year will truly be his "prove it" year. If he comes out the way he has the past three years, I really don't see how vets and coaches can continue to put him under center long-term. He might play out that fifth year as the starter, but I think next offseason his long-term replacement is found. I also think there's no excuses with the weapons and commitment we've made on offense to insulate him with every possible weapon.  Evero: Best personnel he's had since he's been here...no excuses. Figure out how to blitz effectively. Figure out how to use CBs whose strengths are press/man. Figure out how to utilize a talented front-7 to get the hell of the field. Outside of FS and maybe....maybe ILB, there are few weaknesses on this unit.
    • Canales can never get his teams ready in the first week of the season so far. Hope that changes or Ben Johnson is going to take his azz to school.
