Another Baker thread? (interview)

I have two issues with Baker, first, I don’t really see him as a game manager. He’s going to take those risks. Which means he’ll flop or (similarity to a game manager) be surrounded with a good enough team to win.

But unlike a game manager he will lose you games. He will win you games too, but they’ll be messy, require a team, and that may not be enough. Second, the injury for obvious reasons.

This whole idea of a bad personality is overblown just like cam imo. What ironic is it seems to come from our resident cam Stan’s who should seemingly understand. But Baker isn’t cam.

The Browns shafted him (probably blind sided) and then tainted him when he spoke out. For a sexual predator facing suspension. That’s pretty low. All after he took them out of the gutter which was probably extremely hard. You think cam got no thanks send off? This was on another level. Cam has said similar things, even worse things. Who the fug cares.

Now I think he’ll suck but come in and win is all I care about just like with cam, Panthers fans can handle the drama if you ball out….see also Steve smith.

Baker has never been a game manager. If anything, he's a gunslinger. Dude reminds me of Brett Favre.

Bu..bu...but Baker is too arrogant for his own good.

The media portrayal of this dude is as bad as it was with Cam. Couldn't be more wrong.

I think it is overblown.  There might be some stuff there but ultimately we will find out.  All these guys are type a and I suppose if they rub you wrong (should have used that in a deshaun Watson thread) the perception spreads.

If we have learned anything from having a polarizing QB, it’s that the media and outsiders will create a narrative to fit their particular purpose.

Ive played xbox with baker a number of times. Hes pretty cool virtually. Still cares about winning more than anything. Even though I'm a nobody I was able to poo on him here and there and he just laughed. I can say some of the stuff I've seen on this message board are from people who have never actually watched any browns games and are blindly believing rumors about him. If you are shocked by his interviews than you really haven't researched him almost at all. Hes pretty charismatic..

he's not a horrible person who's going to beat their gf or something, he's just a full on douche who rubs a LOT of people the wrong way which leads to him pissing off his coaches and teammates and creates general team dysfunction

Cleveland did only pass like 28-30 times a game, it was kinda run a lot but don't be conservative when you do pass. In a lot of his mic'd ups he's always bragging about his hand offs, which is a joke and also Darnold actually kinda sucks at them for real

Baker has had his issues over the years but when you dump the most successful QB you have had in over 20 years for a guy with all those legal issues, you better make Baker look pretty bad or risk alienating your fanbase big time.  He is getting a bad rap even for him.

Browns "success" isn't even mediocre. The Cleveland Browns are not a measuring stick for any mid-level or successful NFL team. They've never been to the Superbowl. They were happy to get Tommy Jane Jake from us.

So by that measure below mid-level, Baker has only had a slight taste success after four years, much like Sam. They put the best they could around the guy and determined he was "too short, too slow, too cocky" and were ready to let him walk.

Who else was interested? Seattle? Come to find out, not really. Who? Oh, Rhule and his Boys Home For Broken NFL QBs 800S Mint St. Charlotte NC.

So in that case I'll look at Rhules success rate with broken QBs.....yeah.

Sorry if we're not excited about Clevelands best.

Uh before the trade I saw plenty of people on here saying things about him treating women poorly. Also i was playing with him right before this all went down. He was comfortable enough with his squad to talk about what was going on behind the scenes. There is no doubt in my mind that Kevin stefanski wanted him out and if you actually watch all the play calling from 2020 and all the play calling from 2021 you can tell. If your boss was actively trying to get you killed you’d be petty too. Baker is like Tom Brady in that if a player doesn’t do something right he will rip them. Unfortunately he doesn’t have the super bowl rings (and respect) to get away with that. There’s plenty of video of his teammates being not only friendly with him but like best buds type stuff.

bakers biggest flaw is being too stubborn to sit out in 2021. That whole year messed his image and career up. It didn’t help that his coach would allow d linemen to just go unblocked. I don’t think he’s a hall of famer and he needs the coach to change their gameplan to fit his strengths but if that happens good things can happen.   Much worse qbs have won super bowls.

What dysfunction? He took the Browns to the AFC Divisional Round. The fugging Browns. Set the NFL Rookie Record for touchdown passes in 12 starts.

What happened in Cleveland was a Cleveland problem, not Baker. They will be, forever and always, the epitome of dysfunction in the league.

Put it this way.  The same staff that was interested in Baker is the same staff who put a trade together for NE to jump into the 3rd and take Corral despite his character concerns as well.
