John Crumpler who is a Texans wire guy even mentioned that Penning didn’t have a “bad” outing against Houston but in no way shape or form was it “top rookie” outing.

another example of why I don't pay much attention to PFF...here some things from the Saints board on Penning after the game

"He got owned by those inside moves last night, even by 3rd string DEs. It’s hard to tell on the broadcast but I didn’t see all that nasty we’ve been hearing about."

"Right now, it looks like Hurst is the definite starter at LT"

"I agree. I was not impressed."

 

they also acknowleged he did pretty good in the run game, it was his first game, and he's got a high ceiling.
