If someone is in a meeting room early it means they don't have enough work to do, not that they just care more.

Literally just responded to this… to the other fella.

Showing up to practice early is the equivalent to showing up to work early… not showing up to a meeting.

Baker had great RB's WR's and offensive line in CLE

Darnold has never been in a situation even close to what Baker had in CLE

The  OL in Cleveland allowed Baker to be sacked more than Sam last year.  They were 19th in pressure%, we were 32nd.  They were better than us, but I wouldn't call last year's performance great.

So what do you want Brown to do, go back in a tie his shoes again? There’s a difference between being a coach of a football team and leading a desk crew.

I’d rather my guys be early and getting stretched out then wasting time bumping music in the locker room if they are ready to go.

Enjoy your afternoon.

study your playbook, help out a teammate, or by all means go out early if he has nothing better to do. but for the love of smitty, don't do it because you think it shows youre better than the next guy. it doesnt.

And judging by today, Baker is the better option. Running the same scenarios, Baker is pushing the ball downfield and Sam is STILL dumping the ball off, in shorts. It's not even time for pads and Darnold still can't bring himself to use the vertical element of the field while Baker is tossing dimes. Baker is also showing a leadership element by getting up with his receivers in trash talk with Jackson.

We need to "excuse" Sam the same way the 49er's did to Jimmy G. We can trade Sam the same way we traded for Baker.

Some of it might chemistry fit.   OBJ has thrived with mild mannered QBs.  The year Cleveland went to the playoffs OBJ had 300 rec yards and missed half the season.

Face it. We don't have a QB. If Baker wasn't trash we wouldn't have got him  for nothing.

The post I responded to specifically said "meeting room". Anyone showing up to work early doesn't have enough to do at home. It's also nearly impossible when you have kids.

In terms of football, it's not like the other guys are straggling to the field late because they've been playing games or farting around. Odd's are they are communicating with their guys, checking the plan for the day, reading the playbook, studying notes from the previous day's practice, etc.

In other words, practice doesn't start once you get on the field, especially for a QB.

    • I really appreciate Bill explaining his methodology here because that gives interested parties a chance to try and recreate the results themselves. I believe that it's safe to assume that despite emphasis being placed on WRs that Chuba Hubbard is one of the Panthers' top-5 weapons. Considering targets, yardage, receptions, etc... Adam Thielen and Xavier Legette are also on the list. Jalen Coker's success might have snuck him in there as well. I can't draw a conclusion on who #5 is though. I've narrowed it down to Diontae Johnson, David Moore, Ja'Tavion Sanders, and possibly Rico Dowdle if they're taking into account his production for the Cowboys in 2024.
    • Unfortunately business is business especially when there are large sums of money on the table. Goes the same for player and ownership. Does not make it right either way.  Why would he not want to play for the niners? Closer to home with a team that has a chance of delivering a SB trophy.
    • I don’t know if it’s him bad mouthing his former situation in public or my pettiness but either way I’m not a fan. Dude was on playoff teams getting paid millions to entertain. I’m not better that because and I am better than that. You don’t bad mouth your former employer in public. Esp after getting over paid and two, poor little Russian baby didn’t get the playing spot he wanted. Rod had him exactly where is was supposed to be.  He had a mean lip check and did defend our players. Specifically the devils game around Christmas where is our Haula on his ass. Cool. Thank you. But don’t talk poo about us. Because it make you look like Haula.    “need to get as far away as possible”. fug off. Didn’t see Burnsy bad mouthing and his play dropped off too.    sorry, but Orlov doesn’t get a pass from me. See you twice a year…
