Fairly unremarkable was a helluva lot better than the rest of the trash Rhule was trotting out at LT. Honestly, OL doing their jobs look fairly unremarkable the vast majority of the time. For the most part, if you aren't noticing an OL he's probably doing a pretty decent job.

I remember him looking bad against the bull rush specifically.

According to you, Matt Rhule was clearly the one pushing hard for a Baker Mayfield trade out of desperation to save his job...but he has no intention of starting him?  How does that make sense?  How is Baker going to save his job from the bench?

Well, my theory on why he starts Sam first is that going to Baker then gives him something in order to extend his time.   He can BS why he doesn’t start Baker out of the gate.

If he starts Baker out of the gate, we suck and the boos come early like last year…he is fired in season.   There are no scapegoats or players this year that would buy him more time if the stadium does what it did last year.

Baker will start.  Rhule wanted him. But I have said for some time I predict Sam opens on week 1 as the starter and Rhule gets out of him whatever he can first.  He can only get usage out of Sam pre Baker IMO.

Rhule is going to do Matt Rhule things.  I will keep betting on that.

He may want to do something snakey/gimmicky like that but if he trots Sam out there 1st vs Cleveland the Baker chants are going to be deafening

    • I wonder if the Hornets view Kon and McNeeley more as forwards and plan to ship off Green/Okogie/Smith for center help. I hope they don’t plan to ship off Sexton as I like what he brings to the team. (2) G - Ball, Mann, Simpson (two-way) (3) G - Sexton, Dinwiddie, Connaughton (3) F - Miller, Knueppel, McNeeley, James (two-way) (3) F - Bridges, Williams, Salaun (3) C - Diabate, Kalkbrenner, Plumlee
    • 3 main reasons he was better in 2023 and none of them concern me for his NFL prospects 1. Totally new coaching staff that was a massive downgrade and had god awful play calling and designs, the entire fan base was ready to run the coaching staff out of town a month into their first season and the play caller ended up getting changed because it was so bad. 2. Along with the staff downgrade, his QB played significantly worse after being the Pac 12 Freshman of the Year in 2023.  Constantly missed T-Mac when he was wide open, lost out on a number of TDs and a good amount of yardage, half the time T-Mac still almost made miraculous catches on the bad passes too. 3. He hurt his ankle over the summer and missed all of fall camp only to return to practice a few days before the season started and I think he had to deal with it all season long and was slightly limping at times mid season too, but kept fighting through it to still be a 1st team All American.
    • Good luck to Burns. He’s fine as a third pairing defensemen but Rod is too stubborn to do that.
