So while this whole dam QB Competition Charade dragged on.

apparently Darnold’s job was to……..

Wait

“to support Baker, and help him get ready.”

So why the heck did we drag this crap out.  Those reps that Mayfield could’ve had with the 1st string WR and OL would’ve nice and helpful.

That was either an incredibly disingenuous misinterpretation of a tweet, or you have a woeful lack of critical thinking ability.

Since the huddle needs Rhule hate thread #7,945; we need to turn this into another one......

Yeah, they're saying that's his job moving forward.

But that being said, I still agree the competition wad a charade and Rhule really missed the boat when it came to reps and getting guys in the best position to compete and be ready for the regular season.  I trust Baker will be fine and the next week or two of practice will be good enough, but it would've been nice if he had been getting all of the time already lost to develop more chemistry with the 1s.  But again, it'll be fine.

But I think this is as good of a time as any to point out, that for all of his flaws as a gameday strategist, manager, etc., I think delegating reps, roles, and preparing guys for their roles may be Rhule's biggest weakness.  The flipping and flopping has really hurt our team as a whole since he's been here.  This goes all the way back to his first season with the Whitehead fiasco.

Rhule was out there today acknowledging chemistry issues.  We keep seeing botched Baker snaps under C.

I mean, yeah, Baker goes quick.  All our Cs need as much time with out new starter as possible to get it down.  Instead we had Sam taking starter reps

    • Watching games this year again and Bryce missed a wide open XL many times and some of them were in the endzone. I get the kid has mental lapses and hasn't broke out yet, but this is year three on a rookie deal! Cutting bait now is too early. If he hasn't gained anymore trust from his QB, posted any highlights, little production, or outright gets beat out then we can talk movement.
    • Samesies   I truly may just cash completely out of Panther football if we give him a long term deal that isnt necessary.  I have watched NFL for 50 years now and I can without a shadow of a doubt say you cannot win consistently with BY.  Way too many limitations to deal with.   I may come back around in 3 years when the inevitable happens and all parties are either cut and/or fired.  Giving him a deal before this season so you hopefully can get him cheaper in case he "blows up" or if you truly believe that he will has to be the most moronic decision a gm can make when the evidence is laid before you with different players
    • This is the one! I was at that game and all KB had to do was lay down on the corner after the pick or make an obvious tag while he was down. He had already ran a lazy route. Then if Cam would've just walked to the sideline like most elite QBs instead of trying to make the tackle.  A lot of people bring up the TJ Watt hit, but he just reaggravated a bunch of scar tissue from that play. And every Cam hater said that the running did him in and it was a dive tackle attempt on an interception that initially began the shoulder deterioration. He still went to New England later and would've got them in the playoffs had their A team not sat out the covid year. We quit on him too early. But hey how good was Teddy? Am I right?
