We fired an OC that was never qualified to be OC to begin with. See the problem there. But I'm sure there's someone from Baylor or Temple we could have hired no problem.

I agree.  Brady should not have been an NFL OC and it was clear that he was a lost child.    He did not know wtf he was doing and just blamed everyone around him.

For some reason, running the same routes over and over worked for Burrow and Chase in college, but it didn't work for the Panthers in the pro's.  Who would have thought?

Brady is gone thank God.

This has to stop, the guy can coach.

the problem is that he can't win more than 5 games so far. this year will probably be more...but how much more? 2 more games? and then the year after that he'll finally get us a winning season? and then how many more before we get into the playoffs?

the dude just hasn't done enough to prove he's a good winning coach.

This is also an accurate description of Matt Rhule. Just replace Brady with Rhule and OC with HC.

I knew you would come rushing to poor ol Joe Brady's aid.

Are you going to turn this into another Joe Brady lovefest thread, once again trying to mask it  with hatred for Rhule?

This has to stop, the guy can coach. End of story.  He had some struggles to start off his NFL career, but really who doesn't?   This is his 3rd year and time to shine, just watch as he takes off and takes this team to a place we have never been.  In 5 years his name will be up there in the top 5 easy if not the best coach in the NFL.  Buckle up and get ready for a wild fun ride!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Jim Harbough didn't struggle, at all.

The truth is there's not a single NFL head coach, who could come in and get more than 5 wins in the first two years with the team and the roster Rhule had. No offensive line. A total of 10 games out of 33 with CMAC, and starting Teddy Bridgewater and Sam Darnold at QB. You show me any coach in the NFL who could have simply coached a team into a winning record in that situation and I'll show you a zero calorie cheesecake.

You can't. Because there isn't one.

He's contributed to improving the roster, he's replaced his college coordinators and assistants with people with real NFL experience, and he's cut out the "DBO" coaching young men nonsense. He's improved in every area you all were bitching about last year. So I guess the only solution was to move the goal posts further.

5-win seasons suck, but I'd much rather believe we have a coach trending in the right direction than wishing for him to fail.

I'm not saying I have full faith in Rhule. I am saying you all have an impossibly high standard for success, and want to speed run to another tear down and reconstruction. Because that's so fun as a fan to endure.

Nick Sirianni - Playoffs year one

Andy Reid took the Chiefs to the postseason his first year after they finishing with a 2-14 record in 2012

Sean McDermott took the bills to the playoffs in his first year after 18 years of the bills missing the postseason

Sean McVay took the rams to the playoffs year one of his tenure when the rams hadn't made it to the postseason since 2004.

Kevin Stefanski took the Browns to the playoffs after a drought of 17 years

Brandon Staley in the playoff hunt year 1 of his tenure as HC of the chargers

Arthur Goddamn Smith has won more games in his first year with a poo roster and no offensive line than Matt fuging Rhule has in either of his first two seasons.

    • if  ANYONE actually goes & looks at the FACTS on rookie Qb's after 2 full seasons as a starter in the NFL & they are still well below average do they rarely ever actually become top tier Qb's & instead most likely either do not recieve a second contract & or become life long backups...just saying
    • So he became GM and decided not to address the weakness in the QB room following one of the worst rookie QB performances in NFL history?  There were options last season other than signing Dalton to a 2 year deal. Brissett and Jones by a wide margin, both of whom outplayed Bryce, Wilson, Winston, hell even Rivers off the couch was more exciting at the QB position. The time to address the failure in the QB room was last year but instead people on the Huddle cheered when we brought Dalton back then cheered when we were able to get anything for him after they finally realized he was washed up like a few of had been saying all along and got poo'd for even mentioning.  This year, the options were more limited obviously, especially since we lost Icky. It changed the dynamic of our draft. I think we were stuck this year keeping Bryce, but i still think giving him a 5th year option for what has amounted to replacement worthy performance was the wrong move. Why guarantee 25m if you're planning to replace him? You think he's going to want to be a bridge QB? Hell no. He's going to want out and we'll end up cutting him if he has another lackluster season because no one is trading for him with that price tag.  Were there better options as far as production available. A couple. Were there guys available with more physical tools than Bryce, Pickett or Grier, you damn well better believe there were. I've been saying all along, you always keep looking for your 1b. Bryce has yet to prove he can be a starter. Keep looking for someone who may. Put competition in camp. Let the best QB lead the team. Stop settling for less than mediocre.
