My biggest issue with Byron Leftwich is the same one I have with Ken Dorsey and Kellen Moore.

They're all very intelligent and skilled, but I think they need more experience before they're ready to take on a head coaching job.

I know everybody is looking for the next Sean McVay, but I feel like if you go that route you're probably more likely to find the next Joe Brady 😕

I suppose it depends how often a coordinator calls plays, what role they have in the team, etc. It feels unfair to loop them all in with Brady... Especially when these guys we usually are talking about have multiple years of NFL experience

If he brings in Tom Moore, and it depends on the DC. Everywhere Tom Moore goes Lombardi’s follow. He is ancient though. I would be excited about the offense and worried about the defense. I wished we could get Tomlin personally.

I agree with this. It would be extremely important who they surround themselves with. The vet dream DC would be Vic Fangio. Then you can completely let go of the defense.

Byron was a tough, gutsy player who brought a lot to the huddle and the lockerroom. As a coach, he's  been even better.

I think his combination of working his way up the coaching ranks AND his playing time on the field makes him an outstanding candidate. 

If we were to snag him, I'd think we'd set ourselves up for long term success.

on the flip side, the fact he has worked with brady may mean he's learned some things that may help him be a better coach.

Leftwich has only been coaching since 2016, Moore since only 2018. Dorsey has the longest tenure of the bunch, starting in 2023.

There are guys who have been ripe for a head coaching opportunity for longer than these guys have even been coaching.

I know it's not his fault, but older coaches have been pushed to the fringe because of how successful McVay has been.

      Completely agreed.  TBH, we have had so many great players that are in my favorite list, and I hate to narrow it down to one, but Cam is it.  Which is crazy, because you would think it would be more of the guys I grew up watching, but no.  Cam was the single most impactful player to ever out on a football uniform imo.  And like I said in an earlier post, I always felt a kinship with him in a lot of ways…  the way he was treated and judged for the off the field stuff in Florida and having to overcome all of that and fight show at back.  And although I am not a black man, I have always been welcomed by and accepted more by minorities, and thus, I know what it’s like to be judged by appearances rather than the content of your character and who you actually are.  I know what it’s like to be stereotyped and written off or mistreated for your mistakes.  I know what it’s like to be held to a different standard while your peers don’t have to meet that same standard.  So I always related to that.  And the way he came in and just electrified the whole franchise, man…  I still think about it often how much it sucks that because of how talented he was, our staff out so much on him and that ultimately cut his career short.  You’re right, there will never be another Cam…  I think Josh Allen is the closest thing we will see for a long time, but Allen is not the running threat Cam was.  Cam could run you over or around you.  That was THE absolute funnest time to watch our team ever.

      The weirdest encounter I had with a pro athlete was waiting in line at security at Mile High Stadium when I used to get the company suite tickets almost every week because I was the only employee based in Colorado. There's a small checkpoint accessing the suites that virtually no one knows about that you can usually squirt right through. I was standing there and looked over my shoulder and there stands John fuging Elway waiting in line behind me.  This was during the The Golden Calf of Bristol season right before he became GM. I just said "They make YOU go through security?" He's like "Yeah, ain't that a bitch. I literally have a statue out front and I gotta go through security like everybody else." I've heard mixed things about him but he was super nice and down to earth with me that day.
