Bakerfield and batted balls

I initially saw BM listed at 5'10 but he is listed as 6'1" the same a Brees and my hero Johnny U.  Who didn't seem to have as many batted balls.

How the hell is he getting so many batted balls.  I can understand some pressure is causes them, but it seems he has more than his fair share.

Is it team recognize that BM doesn't get much height off his out passes.

I hope our tape review team can give a bit more insight.

don't think height is issue; look at drew Brees and Russell Wilson

cam had a lot of throws batted down also

Yeah its more arm angle and release point than height.  Murray is a damn midget and he doesnt get many. Cam is 6'5" and he had the most in the league.

Panthers cannot overcome any loss of down plays with the current offensive juggernaut......

Word is out-jump in bakers throwing lanes.

OLmen need to punch the jumpers in the gut.

Baker needs to adapt some, maybe add a pump fake or two

fuging call some plays that allow Baker to roll out in open space, one of his strengths....

Ok I've said this a million times.

It's the Olines job to get their hands down.

When the defender jumps you punch towards his balls. They will instinctively bring their hands down in a flinch.

Or they jump and you cut them (unless this is now illegal but it shouldn't be in the free blocking zone) that brings their hands down as well.

Still, on a per-pass level, Mayfield's 2.46 percent passes batted down mark is the second-highest rate in the league among the 30 quarterbacks that have attempted at least 1,000 passes since 2018. The only quarterback with a higher percentage over that span is 6'5" Cam Newton at 2.56 percent.

    • I will admit this- Kon doesn't look or play like a 19 year. Much bigger and filled out than I thought he was. Plus initiate the offense during his best quarter and he did make some good passes for FG attempts.   I watch NBA years ago and was a top 3 fantasy yahoo managers for years. Many times a player had like 30 points, it mostly came from one or 2 hot quarters. The others were 5 and 0, so his 16 point game is normal in that regard.    If Ball, bridges, and Miller allow Kon to be apart of the team, just depends on if he clicks of not. Another generic white guy comp popped in my head........he of hornet lore-Gordon Hayward 15 points 5 rebs 3.5 asst Maybe??
    • Here are a couple of links.   Wish I had seen this before this past weekend as appears they had a big fundraiser event last week. https://sites.google.com/vollminadvisory.com/thewilmingtonarenaproject/home https://www.wwaytv3.com/wilmington-native-leads-push-for-new-multi-use-venue-to-attract-professional-hockey-team/ https://portcitydaily.com/latest-news/2025/07/13/wilmington-nonprofit-fundraising-for-10k-seat-arena-to-lure-pro-ice-hockey-team/ https://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=61577145613291
    • Especially with no other major sports in the area other than UNCW basketball and soccer. It's a good 2 1/2 hour drive just to catch a collegiate football game. If this new arena were built I would hope it also includes an Adult League - I would join up and time allowing would be more than happy to help coach some youth teams. 😄
