He gets a team with a QB, good weather, money, and a roof over the stadium so I can easily see Chargers canning their current coach to do this.

Yep.  Young franchise QB,  great pieces on the OL, several weapons in Ekler, Allen, and WIlliams.  PLUS a defense featuring Mack, Bosa, James, and JC Jackson.  LAC GM has done a great job.

I wouldn't bet on that being us.

Depends. If we offer some nice money and a top 3 pick next year. Plus Tepper would probably have no issue for letting him control the aspects he wants

I am all for it. Only pointy elbow people will point out SB retreads. I’m tired of 5 wins and Payton will at least have us in the playoffs with a decently built team, at minimum.

Their OC (Lombardi) came from NO, worked with Payton, and runs his system. The players wouldn't even have to learn a new offense.

My best guess is he's waiting in Dallas, and Dallas wants him.

I think we would be an option if that doesn't work out, but that's why it's in our best interest to fire Rhule ASAP.

But tbh, I prefer Payton, I like Leftwich and Flores, and the idea of Dorsey is really, really growing on me.

Odds are it won't but I don't think him being under contract with a division rival matters much. He will ultimately coach where he wants to coach and for a long term play like a HC sending compensation to a division rival will not matter one bit.

However I do think that the real push for Payton will be for the 2024 season because then you don’t have to compensate the Saints anything I believe.

To throw more water on this- Payton has said his BFF is iants GM Mickey Loomis......i doubt he shows up in the nfc south......the only path/lane I see is $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$, cause that makes it "ok" ....
