This is the worst panthers team in our history

Nope.  No we haven’t.

2001 ..  we scored 14 or less points 9 times. We lost 15 in a row. Our last game of the season, only 16,000 were in attendance.

We haven't lost 15 games ( yet ).

Players on this team included.  Steve Smith, Muhsin Muhammad , Brenston Buckner, Kris Jenkins, Mike Rucker, Dan Morgan,   Some were rookies.    You can good players on a bad team.

By Oct 14, the season was so bad, I went to a Parade of Homes afternoon with my wife LOL..  WE WERE THAT BAD.  (  Not even sure if there is a Parade of Homes any more,, I'm probably dating myself LOL )

2 season later, we were on the Super Bowl.  Oh, we changed coaches.

Yes I am more hopeless than 2001 and 2010. For all his faults, Richardson was a much better owner.

Tepper took a team that made it to two superbowls and made the playoffs every two or three years. He promised no mediocrity. Congratulations we’re the new old Cleveland Browns.

In fairness, Tepper kept his promise.  We are no longer mediocre, we're awful.  Hooray.  😞

2010 was so much worse lol

I barely remember 2001 but I feel like they were snakebit for a while until the wheels just straight up fell off.

This is 75 percent coaching and maybe even just circumstantial, the players can’t possibly be that motivated with Baker playing like this and a scarecrow for a coach.

Maybe it’s the coaching but this is awful. Even during the 1-15 season and the 2-14 season we had some offensive production. This is just downright terrible. 2 weeks straight and no offensive production whatsoever. All luck last week with the laviska TD

Don’t know if it’s the worst team ever, but they certainly don’t execute very well.

2010 was worse, at least in my thinking.  There were a few subplots in 2010 that made it horrible, and everybody knew Fox was a dead man walking.  JR knew it, he just was determined to have Fox suffer through what he was being paid for.

In 2022 almost everybody knew Rhule was a dead man walking.  There are a handful who entered the season still in his camp, and one of them was the owner.  Four weeks in, I don't think there is any doubt anymore.

I think the defense and ST are bright spots for this team.  Not necessarily great, but not at ground zero.  In 2010 we were hitting bottom, in 2020 was bottom for the roster in terms of dearth of talent.  So there are at least some building blocks, if the next staff decides to move on with them.

While I don't think this Panthers team is the worst in our history, the numbers will put it near that point if something doesn't give.

The problems with this team go directly to coaching for me.  The lack of discipline in every facet is just unreal.  It starts with the coach who looks like he rolled out of bed and to the game each week.  Have some pride and discipline in yourself before you expect it from the team.  There is no clear identity for the offense.  They hang the defense out to dry every game. If we had any sort of offense this team would be in a much better place.  I think the team should cut ties now and start start working on their next head coach.  I was excited when they hired Rhule thought he would bring some creativity to the offense, but I was dead wrong.  I quite watching in the third quarter yesterday as it was one of the sloppiest games I can every remember watching.  I am not sure how much of my weekend I will carve out to watch the rest of the season.  It is just brutal.  We need an offensive minded head coach and a solid D-coordinator.  I would see Wilks running the D not sure who for head coach.

LOL.  We are arguing which year was the worst Panther year.  It is more interesting than talking about the game!  Tepper is a terrible owner....we can all agree on that.  Rhule should have been fired last year and a new coach/regime should be in place now.

I don't think you'll see 16,000 in attendance by mid-season. Probably about 2,000 by the end of the year.

    • Like many of the old heads, I’ve been here for a long time.  I got a lot of respect for everyone on this board for your dedication to this team.  We’ve all been through it during the tougher years. At this point in life, I’m not one to judge anyone’s level of dedication, or their reasons why anymore.  Time, and a lot of bad football, will do that.  For me, it’s simple.  We share a common bond.  For that, I love and appreciate all of you crazy SOB’s. For me, last season was at a minimum, entertaining.  BY lead a young team to multiple come from behind 4th qtr wins.  That showed me heart, and that he has the clutch gene.  That’s the wildcard intangible.  For me, that was fun to watch even  if it was mindbogglingly frustrating at times.  Over the past two seasons, we have progressively built a better team around him.  On paper, the defense should be better this season.  That’ll help.  Let’s see what he can do as the other guys continue to develop too.  Besides, his contract is cheap for a few more years, and we just made some smart cap decisions during the draft. Let’s see how it shakes out.
    • Hiring Shula & his Cam save us playbook.
    • I would very much liked to have seen Jake Delhomme's career if Tommy Jone no hurt Jake.  I just know that roster and the leadership were destined to hit paydirt but Jake was never the same after the elbow injury, and unfortunately he was the sole reason they didn't make it back to the big one.  I think that 08 team was the best in the league, and Jake masked his inability well all season til the Arizona game put it all on display.  I'll go back to the season prior even and say the 07 team was primed to be a competitor.  Jake was off to a fantastic start that year (for a Panthers QB).  They may have been a championship caliber club for a few seasons after 08 too.
