I find the whole "we need a young Offensive guru to run this team" mindset is overrated and I always felt this team was built for a defensive minded coach so therefore:

Jonathan Gannon- DC for the Eagles

Leslie Frazier- DC for the Bills

DeMeco Ryans- DC for the 49ers

Raheem Morris- DC for the Rams

Brian Flores- LB Coach for the Steelers

Pair any of these guys with a competent OC and BOOM, Superbowl contenders

I like Ryans better than Frazier only because the bills have Sean McDermott, hard to say how much of the bills Defense is due to McDermott vs Frazier or if it’s the combination of the two. At least with Ryans you know it’s him.

The same argument could be applied to Leftwitch and Bienemy too

I actually would argue that leftwich is another Brady effect OC which imo makes him a hard pass. They literally never work out.

Eric the enemy has been on my list for years but I heard last round of interviews that NFL execs were pretty much saying there’s a reason he’s getting passed over. Not sure what the reason is, but seems like they just didn’t think he was cutout for HC. His résumé is definitely deserving of a chance, probably the most deserving of anyone in NFL right now.

Pretty sure Longo is the planned successor to Mack.

Yeah I agree. I don’t think he’ll be able to hand pick his successor like Roy did but whomever Mack suggests is really gonna carry some weight and Longo is probably the leader in the clubhouse. I think a few other guys to watch will be PJ Fleck, Shane Beamer

Young offensive options: Ben Johnson, Brian Callahan, Shane Steichen, Ken Dorsey

Defensive coaches: Demeco Ryans, Jonathan Gannon, Patrick Graham, Jerod Mayo

Guy I like best: Rich Bisaccia

Second choice: at the moment, Don Martindale

Guys I don't think are ready: Byron Leftwich, Kellen Moore

Guys I wouldn't touch with a ten foot pole: Eric Bieniemy, Sean Payton

Guy I think probably gets the job: Dorsey

    • would love it if Vegas were Week 5 (Oct 7).  Just throwing it out there with fingers crossed
    • I believe you are correct. Everyone remembers that record setting drubbing of the Broncos but that was the highlight of their season. They have very good coaching overall and they have a ton of talent. With a better QB they could have knocked off the Chiefs IMO. We aren't even in the conversation of the Dolphins until proven otherwise. We couldn't even get in the end zone against the lowly Chicago Bears. We got shutout and blown out by the CJ Beathard led Jaguars for fugs sake. We can't even compete with bad teams let alone run up the score on them. To me if I'm being completely realistic if I'm the GM and my job is on the line and I feel like Tua is Bryce Young's ceiling I'm drafting QB in the first round next year unless he just magically has a season like Stroud did last year. That's it. I'm genuinely not trying to be abrasive about this it just gets really mind numbing eventually that we keep lowering the bar down down down down down and it's like hey it's fine to have expectations. And if you have a young QB in his prime and he isn't giving you at least prime Jake Delhomme arm talent it's time to keep looking for a QB.
    • Not exactly.  They show that Jones was making the most of the opportunities he had.  I was never a fan of his, but I think that the talent level in NE last year is somehow escaping the massive negative attention it should have received.  That team was terrible - especially the talent and coaching on offense - and everyone was still afraid of the wrath of hoodie. He'll have a chance to restart his career at some point.  He was a middle of the pack QB as a rookie.  Plenty of teams out there would love to make it up to middle of the pack at QB.
