Tanking is a fan thing. Might as well go ahead and prepare yourself for the inevitability that we win a few games and end up with the 4th or 5th pick. It's just what we do.

I'm not sure this team has the ability to win a few. It's really between us and Texas on who has the worst team and Texas might have the better ball club. I thought this team was a 6 win team at best and it's looking more like we are a 3 win team at best.

Valid but your point cuts both ways in this discussion. Those claims about being given incentives for tanking are all the more reason for teams to be extra mindful not to give any indication of impropriety. So again we're back to tanking talk being mostly a fan dream.

Yeah teams can’t openly admit they are tanking but don’t think for a second it doesn’t happen. You don’t think the colts tanked to get Luck? poo…. Dolphins tried to, other teams tried to as well. I think it may be against the rules to do it but it happens. Also teams aren’t going to admit it because it would cause fans to not spend money on tickets, because if the team don’t care why should the fans?

If they trade him or let him walk I’ll be done with the team. Not that I’m a fan bc of Burns, but this team keeps shitting on our core players. From peppers, to smitty, to how we handled DWill, to Cam, and now possibly Burns and CMC. Tepper alone has made it harder to care for the team.

The story is bullish-t

The guy I’m trying to trade is Derrick Brown

I think he’s going to be good for a long time but if you can get a 1st and change for him you do it

If everything goes according to plan and we get our high draft pick next year for a QB by the time we start to compete we’ll have to pay Brown. I don’t think paying him and Burns makes sense. So he’s definitely one I’m taking calls on

The Jets should pair him and Q up together

If I'm Burns, the only thing keeping me in CAR is a franchise tag and with that, I'd request a trade.  No way he wants to re-sign at this point.  He's in a beaut spot to get a major contract from a good team.

He's under his 5th year option and we haven't agreed to a new contract.  So, I ask those so anxious about the thought of losing him: What do you think is going to realistically happen?

He's not going to want to stay unless we tag him which will be north of $20 mil.  He can ask for as much as he wants, and honestly, will be able to get a sh*tload elsewhere.

Everyone jibber-jabboring about this being a stupid move doesn't seem to understand it may be out of our control.

We're walking ourselves into a Peppers situation again...

    • Canales up first. Guys got their legs back yesterday and started a little slow when they came out Bryce challenged them in the huddle and they responded "Dominant practice for the defense today." Praised turnovers, "beautiful hits," and being physical Praised Moehrig, Ransom, Incoom, and Jones II Confirmed playing starters. Predominantly a young team and can't pass up an opportunity. Emphasized game day routines such as nutrition, body readiness, etc. Plus it's a bunch of new guys on the defense. Bryce will start. Will play them the first two, but starters might sit for the third game depending on how practice goes that week. Nic Scourton has a mild hamstring that happened in special teams. DJ Johnson had an issue with his hip flare up and is getting checked out this afternoon. Experimenting with approach to preseason games. In Seattle they played their starters in all but the last preseason game and what Pete Carroll was looking for in terms of mental readiness to play football. Thomas Incoom has been getting a lot of work with AC Carter adding to his toolbelt. Getting better as a rusher and being physical in the run game. Looking for a consistency in response. 1pt for a win, 3pts for a TD. Defense doesn't like that, but in games if they give up one go ball the score can swing. They challenged the pass game and the run game today. Guys are getting together before, between, and after team drills to challenge each other Job of the coaching staff to set the foundation for our schemes, philosophy, and expectations of what it's like to play Panthers football. Powerful when players take that and the locker room owns it. That's when it becomes our team, their team. At the end of the day, the men on the field have to rebound from a bad play, celebrate the good plays, and keep each other in tune for a whole game. Robert Hunt is amazing. Size, talent, quickness, flexibility. Really intelligent guy that there will say himself there are technique things he needs to work on. Regardless of where players are at, there's a constant learning curve and loves that Big Rob is challenging himself with the position coach. Thinks the digital down and distance can be really valuable. Getting the information quickly will help with the flow of the game. Thought TMac looked great but there were some near misses that he'll have to get in the room and communicate with Bryce on while reviewing film. James Mitchell keeps doing right and his trust factor is increasing with the QBs. If you're right and the coverage says the ball goes there, it'll come. Had some issues at the start of camp but is trending up. Newton or Person: "It looked like today was beyond thud but short of live. What do you call that?" Canales: "No, that's thud. In my mind, that's what thud should look like. The challenge for our defensive guys is can you put your body in a position where we know that would've been a tackle." Whizzing by, tagging with two hands, etc doesn't show you whether you would've made a tackle. That's not real football. Let's the play extend because guys have to be ready to chase sometime where the ball squirts out from a pit. Can't train to say "Ah, it was a tackle" and relax but instead play with intensity through the whistle. Lathan Ransom is bringing the physical style of play that they saw on film. Has been really into the details and someone that they can count on. Has really given himself a chance to start at the other safety position. Excited for the extra energy from a game-like environment that they'll get from FanFest. Used to have four preseason games and now FanFest feels like that first one. Will give ST full speed reps to evaluate. Making plays and feeding off of the fans. Window closed quickly on the INT to finish practice. CSW baited Bryce with some movement and made a great play. Saw it from Bryce's perspective with TMac coming open. Has played all over the secondary that they can count on to speak loudly and be on the same page with his teammates.
